My newly upgraded Dell laptop (Win 11, v24H2, build 261006584) has the keyboard locked after booting. After starting, or rebooting, the keyboard is usually totally dead. One solution I found is to do this:

Device Manager > Keyboards > Uninstall Standard PS/2 keyboard then reboot

Sometimes it works, sometimes not.

Any better solutions?

Alex

What is brand, model, and connection type of your keyboard. If it is anything other than a standard usb keyboard)ie bluetooth, wireless, etc, try a usb keyboard to see if you still encounter the problem.

In "settings" (as you posted you have a laptop) See if you can search for "Typing" ?

I always have 2 - 3 - USB keyboards around

Try glasskuter's post 1st. Cheers

Looks like the problem has been solved.

I ran Dell Command Update last night and had 3 drivers updated.
Realtek audio driver
Dell touchpad
Intel rapid storage technology

I've opened and shutdown the laptop 3x and each time the keyboard was responding. Not sure if was one of these, but the touchpad one may have been the solution. So, keeping my fingers crossed (when not on the keyboard), I'm marking this thread as problem resolved.

Thanks for your ideas, they reminded me I hadn't looked at driver updating.
