Current status as of February 20, 2024

Windows 11, version 23H2, also known as the Windows 11 2023 Update, is now entering a new rollout phase. We are starting to update eligible Windows 11 devices automatically to version 23H2.

This automatic update targets Windows 11 devices that have reached or are approaching end of servicing and it follows the machine learning-based (ML) training we have utilized so far. We will continue to train our intelligent ML model to safely roll out this new Windows version in phases to deliver a smooth update experience.

If you have an eligible Home or Pro consumer device, you can update to version 23H2 by opening Settings > Windows Update, turning on “Get the latest updates as soon as they’re available,” and selecting Check for updates. Once the update is available for your device, you will see the option to Download and install. For more information on ways to get the update, watch this video.

NOTE: Timing of features delivery and availability varies by market and device.

Wasn't the issue with the Intel sound drivers raised in an earlier Windows version too? There seems to be a consistent compatibility issue with those drivers.

After version 23H2 was installed late 15 Dec 23, NONE of my programs, including MS365 would open normally...most would open when I "Ran as Admin" BUT most notably Firefox, my default browser would not open AT ALL even after "reset" & then "reinstall". I finally gave up & reverted to 22H2 but of course it took me quite some time to get my stuff back to "normal"

I have a Dell Vostro 3268 which is running Windows 11 on Seventh Generation hardware. I am running Windows 11 22H2. On attempting to update to 23H2, I have discovered that Microsoft has ruled that Windows 11 23H2 does not support Seventh Generation technology equipped systems. Microsoft never advertised that it had designated Seventh Generation technology as close to 'end of life' and so I was not warned against acquiring a short life Windows 11 system.

Microsoft is hanging the users of hundreds of millions of its Windows systems out to dry. Google is offering ChromeOS Flex to Windows users. I hope that ChromeOS Flex is a roaring success and that Microsoft bitterly regrets its poor judgement.

This home user does not trust Microsoft not to make my Windows systems obsolete at short notice.

23H2 runs fine on my i7-7700k (7th gen. Intel hardware) No issues what so ever. Very smooth experience. What comes to next generation of Windows, that may be a completely different story though. So far MS has NOT added any technical requirements that wouldn't physically work though. Some features related to security are quite a bit faster on latest generation hardware, but on my system I have those features disabled anyways, so it is not a big deal.
