Latest Canary build is HOPELESS

Hi folks

I'm trying to install Dutch language pack for Office 2021-- no problem in theory as "Nederlands" has all the complete issues fir that language -- it's a full insrtallation --not just a basic display language pack.

So you get to "please click Download" to install

but there's no download button on the whole thing.

Install the Dutch Language Pack for 64-bit Office​

Excel for Microsoft 365 Word for Microsoft 365 Outlook for Microsoft 365 More...




This is the Dutch (Nederlands) language pack and it includes display, help, and proofing tools for the Dutch language.


Important: If you're using a work or school account your IT administrator may have configured your language settings.

After the installation completes, restart Office for your new language settings to take effect. Then return to the Office language settings and configure your display and/or proofing languages.





This latest Canary build is JUST 100% JUNK if you need to mess around with extra languages.

I think there's a more appropriate expression -- roughly the same in Dutch, Flemish or Afrikaans. !!! Can't post it however -- I'm sure it's "highly un-parliamentary language".


What's up with Insider builds -- these sorts of things are BASIC -- I expect defects in what is essentially alpha or even pre-alpha software - but basic things like this should work whatever the release.

I don't know much abourtWindows internals but surely language could easily be done via some sort of "Data dictionary" - so you have the basic screen and then all the bits that appear on it -- e.g icons, menus etc are just labels which could be accessed via "labels" in a data dictionary -- e.g settings for example could be a text item label 500 in a DDIC and then you have a language key to bring in the NL, or whatever language you need .

Seems simple to me in theory to do but as an Engineer without much practical coding experience apart from old Ms DOS Basic, IBM FORTRAN (from Uni days- quite a long time ago), and PYTHON) I'm not sure how feasable this is. If I was designing an OS that's how I would do it -- separate the Screen bits from the application parts - but who am I to say. !!
