Soon as I saw Shawn's announcement, I opened Chrome on both my W11 desktops, menu > Help > About Google Chrome, and they both upgraded immediately.

What are you doing to try to get the upgrades, Dwarfr?

Can you post a screenshot of what it shows when you click on the three dots menu on the upper right then Help then About Google Chrome? Normally, all you have to do is kill the chrome.exe process and when you open Chrome, it will already be the updated version if you didn't want to do it the regular update way of downloading and then restart the browser when prompted.

@Almighty1 I think you and I are trying to get the same info from the OP @#67 above. He may be trying a different route to get updates, and when that fails, he downloads whole version installations. Aaargh! That would make me tired very quickly.

Many users don't know that when a new update hasn't yet come to them, they can force it through Menu > Help > About.

Yep, I noticed what you wrote after I wrote. The installer still needs to download after you run it. You are right about that option which requires a restart. A lot of times, the update comes in because chrome.exe is no longer running such as when I reboot as it seems like Chrome will download updates when you open it even if it didn't already downloaded it before. Edge on the other hand would require doing the same method you mentioned even if you killed the process first.

Google faces worldwide disruption as version 100 looms closer.

The problem boils down to version numbers. The official build of Chrome is currently on version 96, while ‘Chrome Canary’ — the early access developer build — is already on version 99. When Chrome hits 100, affected websites will stop loading.

The reason for this is these sites check the version of Chrome visiting the site, but website design software like Duda only check the first two digits. The check is for security reasons to stop older, unsupported versions of Chrome from visiting (version 40 and older is a common cut-off point) and Chrome 100 will be read as ‘Chrome 10’ and blocked.
