Despite of being a good browser, I'm getting tired of Edge.
Every new version it clean all my personal settings and I have to redo all them (blank new tab (extension), Google search, updates on task scheduler)

Microsoft: I don't want to use Bing. I think Google is still the best search engine.

Firefox NEVER, EVER had cleaned my personal settings.
Does anyone know how to block a new version from modify my settings?

I have never had that sort of issue and I've ben using Edge for many years.

I've had this happen repeatedly on 3 desktop PC's here.

I finally got tired of fighting it so now I completely ignore Edge (I only used it for the rare occasion where a website didn't work with Firefox).

I've made sure all Settings in Edge are turned off, removed all Edge shortcuts, made sure all Scheduled Tasks and Services for Edge are removed/disabled and blocked Edge updates with 2 Hosts File entries that someone here (from memory) helpfully provided just recently.

I also blocked the Edge executable in Program Files (x86) > Microsoft > Edge > Application with OneClickFirewall (I don't trust Windows Firewall to 'honor' settings like this).

I was going to completely remove Edge with one of several options available but I'm pretty sure it would just reinstall itself again and again and I'd have to go through all the settings from scratch each time.

I found a solution to keep my Edge settings, not perfect but saves a lot of time.
I made a compressed copy of D:\Users\Luiz\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Edge\User Data folder (my profile is on D:)
Every time Edge replaces my settings, I delete the User Data folder and replace with the one I saved on the compressed copy.
It isn't perfect as any change on the browser since the creation of the compressed copy is lost (history, favorites etc)
