My Laptop LG Gram 15Z990 (Core i7 8th Generation) freezes at LG Logo when upgrading from Windows 10 to Windows or Clean installing Windows 11. Checked through Microsoft PC Health Check and the system meets all the requirements. Tried all the following tricks but none worked:
1. Downloaded ISO from Microsoft Media Creation Tool'
2. Tried Rufus by bypassing hardware checks.
3. Setup /productserver
4. Updated all the drivers to the latest version.
5. Tried 'dism apply image' via cmd in Seperate partition.
Kindly solve my issue, please.

  1. Once booted to the WinPE environment or the Windows Setup screen, press Shift + F10 to open the Command Prompt.

  2. Insert a USB flash drive (Note: this will format the drive).
  3. Run ImageUSB, select your USB drive, and write the downloaded image file to it.
  4. Restart your PC and press the corresponding Boot Menu key (usually F12, F11, or F9 depending on your motherboard) to select your USB.
  5. The memory test will automatically begin analyzing your RAM

First check RAM as suggested above. If there are errors check each RAM module separately to find the faulty. If all pass the test separately on a specific slot, then do the test again at another slot to find if you have a faulty slot. If all RAM passes, check your disk health with Crystal Disk Info or Hard Disk Sentinel. If disk passes as well, disconnect any other disks in case one of them is faulty and Windows cannot properly identify it. If you don't have other disks or if you have already disconnected them and the problem persists, try removing your peripherals in case one of them has an issue and Windows cannot properly identify it. Post results after trying all the above in the order I described to see if we can help you any further.

Unsupported CPU I suspect or CPU doesn't have some of the more modern instruction set.-- good way then to install this is to create iso via UUP DUMP / similar , then use RUFUS to remove some of the Windows restrictions and then install again or use DISM /ApplyImage and bcdboot.

Unlikely to be a RAM problem -- if there's RAM issues the computer usually won't boot in the first place.

I thought it too that his computer might be unsupported, but he said it is an 8th generation Intel Core-i7 which it is supported. The symptom he described (freezing at the logo) is the same symptom when trying to load 24H2 or higher on a system without SSE4.2 but this is not the case. I also had this symptom once after I tried to enable Hyper-V Hypervisor and I had to boot in Safe Mode and disable it. If he did something recently, he can try to boot in Safe Mode and undo it. If it is a Windows Update he can try to uninstall it from Safe Mode. If it is a new driver, he can go in Device Manager and restore the old driver or at least remove it so Windows can boot again and then install another.

Just in case you don't know how to boot in Safe Mode, there are two ways:

If Windows work normally and want to restart in Safe Mode, hold the SHIFT key while you restart. You will see a screen from which you select Troubleshoot. From the options you see select Advanced Startup Options. This will restart the computer and present you a list. Select Safe Mode if you don't need internet access, or Safe Mode with networking, if you also need internet access.

If Windows does not work properly (like in OP's case), force restart 3-4 times. Eventually Windows will load the screen of options, select Troubleshoot and then Advanced Startup Options. This will present you a list. Select Safe Mode if you don't need internet access, or Safe Mode with networking, if you also need internet access.

When does the LG Logo shows up, during POST or after you booted from the Win 11 USB installation drive or during the installation after the first boot?

Maybe the USB is corrupt and doesn't find all the files to boot properly. I would try to create it again. You could choose to save an ISO in MCT instead of creating a USB flash drive directly. Or you can download the ISO from Microsoft (third option on their website). Then use Rufus to create the USB flash drive.

1. When I restart the Laptop to boot from USB, the LG Logo appears and does not go further. I also tried the in-place upgrade from ISO, but when it restarted it froze on LG Logo.

2. Tried both downloaded the ISO from Microsoft Official Website and Created a bootable USB, and tried to create a bootable USB via MCT, but none worked

3. Tried to enable and disable secure boot mode, but nothing.

Secure boot should be disabled. You can enable it after installation.
Sometimes the computer is Win 11 capable but has something disabled.

I see TMP 2.0 is detected, is it also enabled? If no, try enabling it. If yes, try disabling it. Same for Secure Boot.

First check RAM as suggested above. If there are errors check each RAM module separately to find the faulty. If all pass the test separately on a specific slot, then do the test again at another slot to find if you have a faulty slot. If all RAM passes, check your disk health with Crystal Disk Info or Hard Disk Sentinel. If disk passes as well, disconnect any other disks in case one of them is faulty and Windows cannot properly identify it. If you don't have other disks or if you have already disconnected them and the problem persists, try removing your peripherals in case one of them has an issue and Windows cannot properly identify it. Post results after trying all the above in the order I described to see if we can help you any further.

I checked the Hard Disk and RAM, but didn't find any problems. Windows RAM Diagnostic completed without any errors.

In your first photo I see disk health 91% Bingo! Your disk is faulty. Backup all your data while you still can and replace it ASAP!

CrystalDiskInfo rates the drive as "Good" with 91% remaining life with Zero Data Errors. Then how much it should be if I buy new one to support Windows 11, please.

You don't need to replace the drive.

It is listed as having 24476GB (24.476TB) of writes. Its specified life is 200TB writes.

I'm sorry that I can't suggest a fix for your issue.

Sorry spapakons its not damaged. As it's a SSD, clusters die due to write / erase over the years.
91% means that 9% of the drive can't be used due to dead clusters, but 91% are still good.

mibrahim786, how many free space do you have on the main drive?​

Then do a complete disk scan to mark the affected area and avoid using it. Then try again to upgrade.

Turn off secure boot in uefi bios.
Unless I am overlooking it in this thread you do not say whether or not you can get into bios.

If you can not get into uefi bios to turn off secure boot, I would remove the CMOS battery. Normally I would say wait about 15 minutes and plug it back in, but in your case since the device is 8 years old, I would replace it with a new one. It's probably a CR2032 battery and can be purchased for less than $5 at most any store that sells batteries. When you boot up, you should see a screen that tells you the date and time needs to be changed. You can do this in the bios.

In the respective sticky thread, how to install Windows 11 on unsupported computers, we mentioned that some systems fail to upgrade if you have more than one GPT partitioned disks. If you have two or more disks, try disconnecting all except the Windows disk and then upgrade. You might also disable them in Device Manager instead but I would disconnect them to be on the safe side. Needless to say disabling fast boot and Secure Boot is not a bad idea. You can enable them afterwards. Now that I think of it, maybe fast boot is the culprit because the computer doesn't properly initialize all devices and Setup hangs while trying to determine which devices need new drivers.
