Hello,

Checked my Windows 11 Pro Reliability Monitor now and was dismayed to see that almost every day for the past 12 days, it has recorded critical events with Local Security Authority Process - Stopped Working. Faulting applications is C:\Windows\System32\lsass.exe. On some days it recorded 4 such errors, driving the Reliability Monitor graph into the mud. Before this the Reliability Monitor was running a solid 10. I have not made any changes to the PC since these started on 18 Sep. Maybe a faulty Windows or Defender Update?

Any tips or ideas on how to resolve this, or is this a known bug perhaps?

Thanks in advance.

Omg I've been having this same issue and it began on sept 18 also! And I haven't done anything different to my computer either ( I'm on a laptop w11 home). So far it seems to only happen when I load up fortnite.

Here's a screenshot from what it says in my reliability monitor:

From Windows Forum: Redirecting
The error code `0xc0000005` is a common exception code for "access violation" errors, which typically occur when a program tries to access memory that hasn't been allocated or is already in use. This could be due to a variety of reasons, including faulty drivers, incorrect system settings, or software conflicts.

OK, so it is not only me! I have also been known to play a bit of Fortnite.... maybe you are on to something. Thank you for this info.
Here is my Reliability Monitor, almost identical codes to yours. Every instance in my Reliability Monitor has the exact same codes.

I wouldn't even know that this was an issue were it not for Reliability Monitor, as both Windows and Fortnite never crash or lock up etc.

Yes same. I don't get crashes or anything from it but I'm worried it'll be bad in the long term. I tried doing the sfc scan from what jacee posted but it said everything was fine. The only thing I noticed and I'm not sure when it started is that hwinfo shows one of the cpu cores temperature has been going up more than normal when playing fortnite. But the temps could be unrelated to this problem since I've been having other issues with my laptop before all this and everything had been back to normal for a week until the 18th when the lsass issues started. :/

I 've been reading more than I ever cared to know about LSA. Too deep a subject for me. Brink posted this today. What is new in Windows 11 version 24H2
I noticed it address LSA service so I followed the link to here

Of course I do not know for sure and am only thinking out loud here, but the way I read it in the second article, you could have a bad/unsigned driver causing those errors. Look about half way down the page under

Identify plug-ins and drivers that LSASS.exe fails to load

Thanks glasskuter. I think I am on build 23H2 and 24H2 has just been released. I will try running Windows Update later (I am on my work laptop now) and just maybe, this will resolve the issue, especially if LSA has received some attention. Failing that, will have a look at those logs. I have been able to establish that there are quite a few people with this exact issue on both official MS forum and also Reddit forums. Fortnite is definitely the common theme. Probably way more people have it than is being realized as very few people care to check their Reliability Monitor.

Unless your pc is actually having issues, I wouldn't worry too much about what the reliability monitor reports.
