Thanks Allan, I just tried it. This suggestion doesn't change anything on my desktop icon. The options don't match. It says to uncheck the encrypted box. Mine is not checked.

I also don’t think that’s Windows related, I don’t think it’s OnDrive

Grab a copy of ShellExView from NirSoft. When you run it, sort by the Type column. Look for items with type "Icon Overlay Handler." That will show you which apps/libraries are putting overlays on your icons.

Edit: Forgot to mention, you can use the red and green buttons in the toolbar to disable items you don't want. Also available by right-clicking.

Unless you got that answer by uploading a picture of the lock icon, there are a few different type of lock overlays, I believe that answer pertains to another.
These are the icons that are in question, OP of Reddit post said it was to do with sync issues on their work PC and most likely related to BOX Cloud Services.
cboshdave is using a Beelink so I doubt it’s work related.

There are quite a few different lock overlay icons used by different apps. It is either related to permissions or done by some app you have installed that lock a users files. Cases of ransomware have also been know to show such a lock.
Since the files are already locked, it might not make a difference but I would try a clean boot anyway to see if the lock goes away. If it does, you have some app on your machine conflicting with windows. The tutorial will help you narrow it down to the culprit.

Well, this was a total mystery that lasted a couple of weeks. I truly appreciate all the thoughts and comments. Today, I was checking for updates on responses and I looked over and the lock image was gone! I did not do anything special. No downloads, no script runs, nothing. I just woke up the computer. I did not even power cycle. I'm baffled! They did not seem to cause problems. Just threw off my game for a few weeks! Yay! I'm normal again!

When i logged into Teams with my work account on my personal machine, I did create a some sort of link to work. It's not a deep link (Im not joined to the network or anything), but I can't reset all my chrome options because it says they are controlled by someone. Weird. But has not caused me grief. For a basic work horse computer, I have LOVED this Beelink computer. I have 3 of them.
