This tutorial will show you how to enable or disable allowing AI to analyze relevant diagnostic and setting data when you use the "Fix and issue" feature in Microsoft Edge for your account in Windows 11.

Fix an issue is an upcomming user-initiated troubleshooting experience in Microsoft Edge Settings that helps users understand and resolve common issues (for example, performance, media playback, or sign-in problems). The experience may surface guided steps, explanations, or recommendations to help the user make progress toward a resolution.

This experience is designed to be assistive and transparent, allowing users to explicitly seek help from Settings when something is not working as expected.

Fix an issue in Settings is intended to:
  • Help users troubleshoot issues at the moment they request help.
  • Provide contextual guidance based on the problem entered by the user.
  • Improve user understanding of what might be going wrong and what actions they can take.
It is not intended for background monitoring, continuous data collection, or proactive diagnosis without user interaction.

When a user explicitly chooses to use this feature in Settings, Edge may collect optional diagnostic data and Settings state relevant to the specific problem being addressed, post receiving consent from the user.

Key points:
  • Diagnostic data is collected only when the user initiates the Fix an issue flow.
  • Data collection is scoped to the active troubleshooting session and is not continuous.
  • Data is used solely to help generate explanations or guidance for the current issue.
If the user does not give consent, Edge will not collect the optional diagnostic and Settings state data for these experiences.

The Use diagnostic data in "Fix an issue" feature is turned off by default in Microsoft Edge, but you can turn it on if wanted.
