Windows 11 Pro 23H2 (OS Build 22631.4169) Desktop (OS Build 22621.4317)
I have the latest photo of my granddaughter as my lock screen however when I hit the spacebar for the PIN the machine has now started to superimpose an older photo of her over the one I want. Is there any way of stopping this from happening??
Any help really is appreciated.

I think this is what I did.
Set whatever picture you want, then "disable' the changing of lockscreen pictures.
I would have used the registry option.

Hello Shawn I still have a problem with my lock screen in that I have a photo of my granddaughter picked out but when I hit the spacebar to put in my login PIN it superimposes an older picture of her over the one I have picked. It is an annoying problem that I tried the gpedit route with no luck and the superimposed picture also appears over the Windows screen.
I changed the gpedit back to non-configured and picked the photo I want again but the lock screen when this happens looks like my granddaughter has a clown's nose stuck on her! Any ideas mate?

Hmm the gpedit didn't do anything and I suspect that because I upgraded from 10 to 11 that it brought over the older login picture with it but it is still annoying that I cannot get rid of it by choosing the photo I want.

If I understand the problem correctly, you do see the picture you want on the lockscreen, but you don't see this picture on the sign-in screen (where you put in your pincode). In Settings -> Personalisation -> Lock Screen, there is an option to "Show the lock screen background picture on the sign-in screen". Is this option toggled ON?

No Lokien I get the photo I want on the lock screen but pushing the spacebar to get my login PIN puts an older photograph of my granddaughter superimposed over the selected photo making her look like a clown with a pic for a nose.

Does your "No" mean the option I mentioned is NOT toggled on? To clarify: the screen you see when you put in your pincode is the "sign-in screen", not the "lock screen".

Hello John, :-)

Since this happens when you go to the sign-in screen, could it be her account picture you're seeing on top of the background?

John,

Just to confirm, the picture in the round circle is the account's profile picture, and the sign-in screen background image in your screenshot is not what you normally have on your lock screen background?

Sorry late reply Shawn No mate the lock screen is the large photo of my granddaughter at boot up and then when I push the spacebar for my login PIN the circle photo appears just as in the pic so it makes her look like a clown. This only happens on my laptop which I upgraded from Windows 10 Pro to 11 Pro via the update method.
The lock screen on my desktop Windows 11 Pro stays the same and when I push the spacebar the PIN box appears across her face without the circled photo. I have an idea it might be something to do with the upgrade on the laptop being connected to my Microsoft account?? Which is odd because I installed Windows 10 Pro on the desktop first and then upgraded it to Windows 11 Pro using the unsupported hardware version on a USB stick which brought all my apps and features over with it like it did with the laptop. So in theory the outcome of the lock screen should be the same but isn't??
Edit: Shawn I have just checked my Microsoft account and that round picture of my granddaughter does have that round photo attached to it as my profile picture can I get rid of it somehow?

Hello Shawn I have fixed it by changing my Microsoft account picture via Settings and now have a lock screen with a generic picture and then a round photo of my granddaughter superimposed when I press the spacebar.
Thank you for all your help:D

@ICIT2LOL a bit late I know. The default setting for the sign-in screen is that the lock screen photo ( if selected) is blurred. So the profile photo in the sign-in screen stands out from the blurred background image.
If you go to Setting - Personalisation - colours and turn on Transparency effects you could still have your original set-up without it looking 'clown' like.

Hello Shawn I have fixed it by changing my Microsoft account picture via Settings and now have a lock screen with a generic picture and then a round photo of my granddaughter superimposed when I press the spacebar.
Thank you for all your help:D

Great news John. I was thinking it was the account picture you were referring to.

Yes Shawn I should have thought of that earlier as my login screen in Windows 10 had that earlier photo of her when I hit spacebar,.

I would also like to thank all of the other members who threw in some suggestions.

All I need to do now is change that rather ordinary generic picture for something a little better.
