How can I enable the system logging in directly as soon as I type in the PIN on the lock screen (type in the PIN and the PC logs in without hitting enter)?

Hello, :alien:

Usually, that's already done by default when you enter the full PIN.

Did you mean not wanting to see the Lock screen to dismiss first before typing the PIN?

Hey

That's the thing, just did a fresh OS install and when entering the PIN completely it doesn't auto log in, I have to press enter in order to log in.

So what exactly is going on here when in default it doesn't require pressing enter.

That's odd. You could test changing your PIN to refresh it and hopefully not have to press Enter afterwards.

so what exactly is going on here when in default it doesn't require pressing enter.
It just reaches a series of alphanumerics (length of PIN) & then passes on the return character.

It just hit me as to what did I do diffrently with this install, this time I applied the no internet install method with the local account, could that be the reason?

Don't you have to choose the HELLO sign-in method in order to be able to use a PIN?

It auto enters the PIN after typing the 4 digits no matter how I selected to enter a PIN, or if it was waiting on me to type the PIN.

This has been with a local account and Microsoft account on multiple VMs and devices.

Usually, once you set up a PIN, it will always have the PIN sign-in option selected by default instead of a password unless you also have Face setup.

A password does require having to press Enter though.

Is it a must to use Windows Hello sign-in method to avoid having to press enter?

Yes, I get that, but in order to select a PIN (no enter) , aren't you obligated to change to HELLO?

View attachment 61626
Right on mate thanks! it looks like when installing Windows on a local account it wasn't a PIN that I entered during the installation but a password, I just went to the PIN (Windows Hello) and no PIN was set, the password was already set, so I added the PIN to the PIN (Windows Hello), rebooted and now it auto logs as soon as the PIN is entered.

Mine is 6 but my question is:
Is it a must to use Windows Hello sign-in method to avoid having to press enter?
Nope. When the PIN sign-in option is selected, it should automatically go to the desktop after entering the correct PIN.

Yep. Just a confusion between the different "password" and "PIN" sign-in options. :shawn:
