Solved Lost Folders

I have no idea where to post this; move it as needed.

I have an odd problem that I have been unable to solve: In the process of installing a new computer, I found that I could not use my Macrium rescue program to restore the new machine. I had to call on my technician, who went through many gyrations that are far beyond me, but was able to use Macrium X to copy a known backup file to the new machine. Somehow, Macrium also copied the separate D:\ folders to the C:\ drive. These were all shown in a column of other entries, a column that I cannot find.

I knew this when, somehow I opened a file or whatever which showed the D:\ folders, one of which was the one I need to find the program update that I downloaded a short time ago. As my downloaded program is hiding in that non-existent location, obviously I can not run it. There is a download folder on he new computer, but it does not show any recent additions, so it is not the folder that I have to assume, without seeing it, is the one I need to access.

I don't even know if I have explained my dilemma in a fashion so that someone who knows how to access the D:\ Downloads folder. If more information, even possibly in a comprehensible manner, kindly let me know. i look forward to having all problems caused by the unusual process the tech, who is quite knowledgeable, had to resort to get me this far.

As is my usual method, please accept in advance and and all assistance that may be offered.

I am not all certain how I managed it, but I did move the D:/downloads to a new C:/Downloads folder and after several tries got the update file for KeePass to download to the new folder. As though I needed more aggravation, the download process kept saying that the file had downloaded, which it had not.

I even changed the location of the Downloads folder. If I keep this up, someone will use my screen shot to create a D:/ Drive,,. Seriously, I would prefer having a D:/ drive as I am quite accustomed to working that way even though my work load has gone way down. No more books, training manuals, answering multitudes of fire-service related inquiries and trying to somewhat forget my thirty-three years of fire service related activities.

I do not resent that latter, except that it took me far away from my academic background.

You do not say if D: was a separate drive or if D: was a separate partition on the same drive as C:
If D: was on another drive, it should have been imaged separately. If it is is on another partition on the same drive as C:, it's ok to image the entire drive and all the partitions on it.

3 recovery partitions is not normal and definitely shouldn't use 25gb of disk space. That said, I see Disk 0 which is the system drive and disk 1 which I think is an external drive (F:)
Exactly on which drive is the D: partition supposed to be? and what size is its partition.?

I believe your technician manually copied and pasted your folders/files from the image onto the C drive into your default user folders. Maybe he missed some of them. How all those recovery partitions got created I have no idea. Disk 0 partitions 4,5,and 6 do not seem to have any data written to them.

Or Maybe I don't have a clue since we can't see your image to know how it was before.

I appreciate your attempt to figure this out, but it is far beyond my very basic knowledge. I am quite certain that the problems started when, not having a working Windows computer to transfer my existing Macrium backup to the new orphan as it were, the use of the backup rather than the Macrium Rescue or Laplink or similar as I have done in the past is what is involved.

I just looked at my Dell invoice which does not list the parts of the computer, such as discs, only the total price. As the the amount I paid was several hundred dollars more than basic price, and based ONLY on my previous years of using Dell desktop computers, is that what I bought included two disks, and what the order form led me to believe that I had indeed entered a second disk, the mysterious D:/ drive.

Based on what you have now told me, if and only if, I have only one disc although that is not what I thought the order form was indiccating. If that is so, then I have to hope that I have enough storage to eventually find and load all of what is somewhere on the new computer. I think that the next step, without wanting to impose on you, if for you either to tell me what to do or what you want me to do and/or explain where I am and where I am going.

One thing that I found interesting is that, having been asked to post the image, using Snagit, I created the image. In Snagit, I was asked where to save it, so I entered "C:/ Pictures"; that appeared to work. When I was ready to post that image here, I told the computer to find it in C:/ Pictures, which worked. Later, I found out how to open that folder, and it was quite evident that this folder used to be D:/Pictures. This told me that I have other folders that have also been restore and and moved to the C::/ drive. I have once seen, but only seen once, a column that lists all my moved folders, and cannot find it again.

Whatever you are willing to do to help me finish this part of the installation of my new computer, it goes without saying (so I will type it,) will be greatly appreciated I will spare you of the mystery of why I cannot connect to the Internet. This started by the normal window at the bottom right cornet of the monitor showing the name of the Xfinity location, but that would not accept the known router password, and has gone from there to eventually only being able to connect by attaching the ethernet cable feeding the router directly to the computer and restarting the modem. There was one amusing moment during that process: I was looking at the modem to see if all four lights were lit. meaning that it was connected; at that moment, light number four actually showed an "at" symbol, which quickly quickly changed to its normal symbol.
