Lots of Access Denied errors about the MountUUP folder while compiling ISO from UUP download

Windows 10 Insider Preview 21390
After downloading the lastest Windows 11 build 22494.1000 and the ISO is being created I'm gettings HEAPS of Access Denied errors about the MountUUP folder.

I've redownloaded this build & retried but still the same problem. Obviously I have taken ownership of that folder but the problem still occurs.

Any solution please?

This may be Controlled Folder Access that's blocking you. Try turning it off while you make the ISO.

    fully 'Windows 11 ready' laptop. Windows 10 C: partition migrated from my old unsupported 'main machine' then upgraded to 11. A test migration ran Insider builds for 2 months. When 11 was released on 5th October 2021 it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update, and 24H2 on 3rd October 2024 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 24H2.

I'm confused.
You're trying to mount the ISO in the folder, and not the folder itself, right?

Problem is I couldn't find Ransomware protection so I searched for it from the Security page I got a response saying this...

I believe that the OP is using an aria2 script from UUPDump to build an ISO for the Insider build 22494.1000.

No. I just ran the downloaded the 22494.1000_amd64_en-gb_professional_4035a0a2_convert.zip from UUPDump, extracted that then ran uup_download_windows.cmd from inside that extracted folder. It was after that script had downloaded all of the necessary files it created the MountUUP folder from which it was creating the ISO file when the Access denied problems arose.

Seems you have a company PC and your IT dept has a group policy is in place to stop you turning off ransomware protection. In that case, you need to run it in a folder that's outside those being protected. Try creating a C:\Temp folder, place your extracted folder in it and run it all from there.

OK, so are you suggesting that if I put the UUPDump extracted folder inside a temp folder that it might create the MountUUP folder inside that temp folder so it's not in a Controlled Folder Access folder??

Yes, that's what I am suggesting. The default folders protected by ransomware protection are your personal folders (Documents, Photos, etc.) in C:\Users\yourname and the equivalent folders in C:\Users\Public. Create a new folder anywhere outside these folders and controlled folder access won't apply to it. I suggested you create a C:\Temp folder to use, but it could equally well be a folder on an external usb HDD.

Even if you download the Windows 11 ISO looks like you did, the computer you are trying to install Windows 11 does not meet Windows 11 system requirements.
