OS
Windows 11
I'm not sure when exactly it happened but It had to be a windows update....

I do have Loudness Equalization on although Release Time is new to me, don't recall that option back in windows 10.
Would that setting be better Short, Long, or left alone in the middle?
I have also checked my stereo receiver and the TV I'm using for media.
It all looks correct.
I did try Speech Enhancer on the TV which helps but it just doesn't sound quite right.

In Windows... I just have Loudness Equalization. Otherwise... I think you need to adjust the TV sound "type".

I have my old LG TV set to the following...

Picture Mode = Cinema(user)
Sound mode = Standard

In other words... after setting Loudness Equalization in Windows... you need to mess with the actual TV settings.
It seems to work. I'm testing on the movie... Raiders of the Lost Ark. :-)

I have TWO Loudness Equalization settings. The one I have enabled is this one...

The one in the Realtek Audio Console, I have turned off. For both Speakers and Realtek Digital Output.

Or.. to put it another way... the ONLY place I turned Loudness Equalization ON, was in the "old" Sound settings (for the TV as playback device).

Control Panel > Sound > Playback tab > highlight the TV > click on Properties > then choose the Enhancements tab.

The Loudness Equalization only works for the TV if you turn it ON... "for" the TV.

Still assembled, still runs. Haven't turned it on for 15 years?
I figured it out... I took the optical cable from the tv and plugged it into the motherboard. The tv was just a middle man. I hadn't realized my Motherboard had an optical on it.

Good job. Whatever works. Microsoft has messed up the Settings so badly, that nothing is simple anymore. :-)
