Macrium Reflect backup directly to cloud

Has anyone tried backing up via Macrium Reflect directly to cloud ? Maybe via rclone mount ? I don't have enough space on laptop.

No, but why not buy a fast USB external hard drive? I'd recommend a little SSD. It's much safer to not have on your backups on the drive that hosts Windows.

Cloud backup will be slow, expensive and dependent on an internet connection. Just use an external drive.

It's a laptop. And I don't have a HDD always attached to it. That's why.

But the external SSDS are tiny. About the size of a matchbox.

I don't keep my Macrium backups in the cloud. They are too large and with a 50Mb/s internet connection, it would take forever to upload them.

If your router has a USB port you could connect a USB SSD there and backup over wifi.

I don't usually do incrementals, but they can be pretty large depending upon the amount of change you have. I don't like trusting my backups to a huge pile of files that all have to work successfully or risk the whole thing being borked. I prefer just taking a few full backups everynow and then and only having one file to be concerned with. But that's just me.

I do weekly backups to a USB drive. On my main desktop I use a 2TB SSD drive for my backups. On my secondary desktop I do weekly bakups to a USB HDD. Being a Insider Canary user I find this way the best to make sure I can roll back if needed.

The main problem I see from relying entirely on cloud backups is what do you use to boot your PC when Windows will not boot, so you can then have access to "the cloud" to download your restore file(s)?

I use Macrium to do local backups to a plugin external SSD. That takes under two minutes to do a complete image backup. Then, if a Windows Update trashes my PC, I reboot from the MR Rescue USB stick, plug in the external SSD, and in under two minutes, have the PC restored and working again.

My backups are typically around 25GB -- so I don't even want to think about how long that would take to upload/download them over your typical Internet connection.

You can also make the external SSD bootable or add a MR boot option to the PC. If my PC misbehaves I normally reboot into MR's cut down OS and restore from there. If not, I boot from the external USB SSD which has all my backups. I have an older USB HDD for any 32-bit computers.

"You don't have enough space on laptop?" Perhaps you could add a larger 2nd drive? Or as others mentioned just use an external USB drive.
What "Cloud" storage would you use for backups?
