This is the built in Mail app with W11. I have several accounts configured and one just started giving me this issue. It's a gmail account that's giving me the trouble. If I try to send an email with a picture attached (jpeg) it will not complete the send, It just hangs there. Nothing is in the Send or Draft folder it just disappears. When this happens that mail account quits working completely. The other ones work fine. The only way to get that mail account back and working is to Reset it (Apps/Apps & features/Mail and Calendar/Reset). The repair option doesn't work. Anyone else experienced a smilar problem with the Mail app and gmail???

@micfly I just set up a Gmail account in the Windows 11 Mail app. I sent 2 separate emails with a .jpg file extension. One email was sent using the Insert File option and the other email was sent using the Insert Picture option. Each one was sent without any issues. I stress that I just set up this Gmail acct.

I'm not sure the difference of repairing an account versus removing the account and installing it back in. But, I'd try deleting the problematic email account and setting it back up in lieu of doing the repair.

Just realized and forgot to mention when I do a reset and open up the mail app again only the offending Gmail account is gone. The other three accounts I have are still there so I guess it knows which one is broke. I added the Gmail account back and did a test. iI's working again for now so I'll wait until it breaks again and try the delete account approach and see what happens.

@micfly sorry I couldn't be much more help. I really do not use the Windows Mail app. I've always just accessed my Gmail through my web browser or use Outlook.

I salute your perseverance in trying to make a pile of rubbish a workable desktop email client.

Windows 11 Mail is a mess, thrown together by vengeful monkeys who did not get what they consider to be their fair share of bananas.

Though faced with that mess when encountering Windows 10/11 for the first time a month ago, I was reluctant to face the bother of learning how to manage a different email client -- I absolutely loved Vista's Windows Mail and even used it to displace the ridiculous Windows Live! Mail that Microsoft did its darndest foist on everyone with Windows 7, so up until a month or so ago I was happily using an email client dating back more than a decade.

However, though I struggled to find something useful / workable about Windows 11 Mail, it became obvious fairly quickly that I'd be better off spending the time I was wasting on that on learning how to use an alternative. So now I have Thunderbird.

It works well but isn't, where my needs are concerned, anywhere near as good as Vista Mail was, not least because of the modish insistence on separating out all my email accounts (there are half a dozen) into separate blocs which means I have to check each one in turn to see what's in 'em. Good old Vista Mail simply pulled in all the mail for all my accounts and delivered it in date/time order to a single screen, no need for me to have to flit visually on-screen from one account to another.

Good luck with your Windows 11 mail efforts but if the effort becomes too much, Thunderbird is definitely a quick-to-learn alternative. And so far, in my experience, it has worked well.
