Hello Folks, When saving a bookmark, on any browser, do you do it on the login page or after getting logged in?

When I find it.
A bookmark is the URL/Uniform Resource Locator or Address of a Web site so you add bookmarks after opening a Browser then going to the site/s desired. Depending upon the Browser there will be the choices in the Toolbar or Settings menu.

Create the bookmark at the login page (pre logging in). If you’re wanting to save the page so you are already signed in, you need to protect the session cookies that are created after you log in. Then, even though you are landing on the login page via the bookmark, it should automatically just take you into the site as logged in.

What browser do you use?

Some websites will give you an error if you try to directly connect to a page behind a login, some won't.

For security, I tend to log out of most places I visit, so I tend to link to / bookmark the login pages. But some sites won't let you link directly to a login page, either, because it's to a login 'page' but rather something like a floating window or small frame - so then I have to bookmark just the basic domain.

So, the answer really is - it depends.

All my bookmarks in both my browsers are from the login page of the site because I clear my cookies fairly regularly.

Edited: But I have to add that I have very few bookmarks of sites with a login. Most do not. I manage all my sites that have a login from my password manager rather than bookmarks in my browsers.

Good point - if you do regular cleaning like this, you'll be forced to do login page / main domain, as trying to load a page that requires pre-existing credentials to be stored (mostly as cookies) won't have those and will throw up an error (or, sometimes, just redirect you to the login page).

This is why I use a cookie manager plugin to protect session cookies. Cookie manager for Firefox works well. And unless a webpage forces a new session, which I find is rare, you should always be logged in.
I can’t say that this is a safe practice, but I don’t do it for money matters like paypal/banking. But for sites like this one, I never have to log in.

I use Forget Me Not now - I used to use Another one by developer Mel Reyes aka MrTech, Cookie something. When that stopped working after v57 (I think?) I switched to another one, Cookie Monster, I think.

FMN is a little more like NoScript but aimed at cookies, with it settings and such.
