Solved Making a folder show up in All apps list

Nope. Just north of Kingston, out in the country. We've had about six inches.

I'll post tomorrow when I've tried your idea. (But I think I've tried it before, with disappointing results.) We'll see.

No go. Deleted all the Backup stuff from both StartMenu folders, Rebooted. Created a new folder named Memory in ProgramData ... Programs. Created new shortcuts named Alpha and Omega for the programs; Delta and Epsilon for the .xml files. Rebooted. Only two of the four showed up, as before.

I'm quitting with this. As I told Brink, I don't need this folder in All Apps, 'cuz I've got the four shortcuts in the main Start Menu (well, now that I've re-created the correctly named shortcuts and pinned them to Start and put them all in one folder).

I just wondered whether there was a fiddle that would make the All Apps list function correctly. Seems (again, Brink) a glitch that won't go away, probably until the next big OS update.

Thanks loads for your smart and informed help with this. I really appreciate your time.

I forgot to tell you that that suggestion worked: the folder, copied directly from the other PC, showed the folder and all four shortcuts in the All Apps list of the main PC, but only the two shortcuts to the xml files with the correct targets worked, of course.

The problem: when I changed the targets and Start In lines of the two app shortcuts to make them match the File Explorer layout of the main PC, the two app shortcuts disappeared from the All Apps list.

Weird, eh?

I don't expect you to spend any more time on this glitch. I just thought I should tell you the things I forgot to tell you yesterday.
