On my windows 10 machines I was able to map a drive letter to my synology unit , but now in windows 11 if I map a drive it shows up fine until I do a reboot of the computer then it fai.ls to show. if I place a shortcut link on my desktop to that mapped drive, then the first time i click on it it says cant find the shortcut and asks if I want to delete the shortcut. I then click NO and then click the shortcut link again and the mapped drive then shows up fine until I do a reboot.. any ideas how to fix this?

Hi John,

Please go to the command line and use:

net use DriveLetter:<space>\\MachineName\Drive$<space>/persistent:YES
so it would look like:
net use X: \\Mysystem\V$ /persistent:YES

The switch /persistent:YES is the key.

From the GUI, you also have the option to reconnect at sign-in

My mapped drive is \\192.168.1.58\Scans and I use S as the drive letter
So when you say machine name that my computer name correct? No, NAS name
You would use :
net use S: \\192.168.1.58\Scans$ /persistent:YES

In plain English,
I am using mapped drive S to connect to my NAS which has a folder called Scans and I want a persistent connection.
The dollar sign represents the share, it is optional in this case.
Not always a good idea to use an IP, better use the system name but since it's your own network, it's OK.
