My previous Macrium rescue media is booting up fine. I'm on the paid 8.1 version.

I'm on the paid version 8.0.6635 and my Macrium bootable USB stick (made with WinPE), still works.
But I have NOT done the revocations.

I also just "restored" a MAY 14th backup using my Macrium USB rescue media... worked perfectly.

Yeah... I have a problem with the revocations. It seems if the revocations cause a problem, we are supposed to just disable Secure Boot. That makes me wonder why I should do the revocations in the first place.



At the link in the first post of this topic, Macrium forum member jphughan said... in the post right above mine...

The issue only occurs if you install the update and perform a series of manual steps to implement "revocation" of previously trusted bootloaders. The reason those steps are currently manual rather than revocation being an automatic part of installing the update is because Microsoft knows that revocation at this stage would be too disruptive to the average PC user. Revocation may occur as part of a future update, presumably after updates to older installation media and WinPE content have been made available so that users have an easy recourse to update their bootable media to become compatible with a system where revocation has been implemented.

Although I've downloaded KB5026372.msu, I've not yet installed it. (I have "auto" updates managed off). So far, my WinPE USB boot works just as always.

What may be the consequences of this ? The "latest updates as soon as ..." slider is installed but I've not turned it yet on either.

I'm going to wait for MS to activate the upgrade. I'm sure that by then Macrium and the other backup software will have a working rescue disk.

There is a lot of over reaction here. If you do invoke the revocations (is that a real word lol), the key point is it prevents use of the Macrium Reflect boot drive. ware

However, if you need to run the Macrium Reflect boot drive, just temporarily turn off secure boot, then turn it back on again.

Annoying, but only a minor issue until the whole problem is resolved.

According to Reflect website, a WinPE drive rather than WinRe drive works ok but I cannot say until I do the revocations.

I am inclined to wait - the procedure is not that clear (MS inability to describe things clearly).

I am rather hoping @Brink will create a tutorial LOL.

Yeah, as I said in #10 above, I hadn't installed KB5026372 although I had a download. So I did wonder what may be the consequences of not installing it ...

Since then, I have tried installation (after a thorough set of checked backups, just in case).

Refused to install ("Not For Your Computer" message). So the consequences are zero, my various USB boots still work ok with Secure Boot on and all is quiet.

The current Win11 version I'm using according to WinVer is 22624.1776. I've tried a few different builds from both the 22621 and 22624 series, which is how I've finished with a build number like that, I think. The "Get Latest Updates ... " slider is installed but I've kept it off. Everything works ok.
