My computer is dual boot, both w11. 1 Windows 11 is on a SSD drive and other is on hhd drive. If the hhd drive is connected, it will only boot to the hhd on the hhd.

Two things may be important, one is which socket on the motherboard is the SSD drive using and the HDD drive is using. Another is if they are both SATA sockets, some boards may have an NVMe M.2 plus one or more SATA. Also important is what BIOS settings are used for which is the boot/system drive. My Dell Vostro Desktop has an NVMe M.2 SSD 512GB boot drive and the 2TB SATA HDD is only a data drive.

First of all, with Dell, when a sata hdd and an nvme is connected, the hdd is disk 0, the nvme is disk 1. The title of your thread says "MBR" which does not give any information. I can only assume you mean that your hdd OS is built as MBR. That be true, Windows 11 installs as UEFI by default, not MBR. Therefore , your bios is set for UEFI boot.

Please post a whole window Disk Manager image of ALL your drives. Don't forget to expand the columns so we can read them. How to Post a Screenshot of Disk Management
If you have a MiniTool or AOMEI Partition use it instead or Windows disk manager.
