Strange, Im not getting it from store , do you have another option to get this new version ?

Info is always useful but with so many better media players capable of handling many more codecs around e.g vlc etc why on earth would people use Ms's media player.

11.2206.30.0 works very good , so if I can update it , would be nice........
Must be a way to get the installer...........

Yes there are far better options than MS Media Player. It doesn't even support WASAPI or lossless hi-res playback so it's a no-go for me

I think it won't even handle SACD hi-def audio either. Believe me this quality of audio is brilliant although very few SACD discs around these days.

You can try here:

Online link generator for Microsoft Store. You can use it to get links to almost all apps, games, themes from the Microsoft Store.

Then copy this link to the Media Player (without the quotes, obviously):
"https://apps.microsoft.com/store/detail/windows-media-player/9WZDNCRFJ3PT?hl=en-us&gl=us"

Make sure you choose Fast, should look like the image below. Click on the check mark and you will get various options.

Now choose this option:
Microsoft.ZuneMusic_11.2208.25.0_neutral_~_8wekyb3d8bbwe.msixbundle

Then open the MSIX file and download it, it will update.

That's rubbish. I installed it a week ago and then uninstalled it! It doesn't support most codecs. I prefer the old one, and I am again on WMP Legacy (!) now. To play all audio formats (FLAC, AAC...) I usually use AIMP and VLC. AIMP is :thumbsup:

, and does what I need, that has a converter, plays video as audio, CUE Sheet support (the most important thing for me!), full of options to manage audio and playlist (Lyric support). But I don't know why WMP (Legacy) somehow has a different quality (on Hi-Fi/Headphone), my ears tell me its quality is better (much clear).

To be honest, I can't remember the last time the Store updated Media Player!
I always get the appx from the Store Generator site.

The app is still

I would guess temp or %temp% but, I don't see anything in those folders related to Media Player!

Thanks for that. I suppose this will work for any installed package that we have on our system, simply by finding the package name wherever it's installed?
