For some reason windows 11 device security started giving this error today
memory integrity can't be turned on
try resolving any incompatibilities with your drivers

When I click on the link where it takes me to incompatible drivers there is nothing listed.
I tried contacting Acer support and they had no clue what it was or how to fix it.
Here are some of the screens
Error.jpg

device-manager.jpg

I did not change or install anything, unless there was a windows update that I am not aware of

Any help is greatly appreciated

I have a thread I started a couple of hours ago on this. I'm getting the error on both my dual boot Win 11 Pro and Windows insider.
On Win 11 Pro, it shows 22 drivers all old drivers I've been using for years without problem.

I suspect a Defender update caused it since its happening on both installations.

Can you post a link to the thread so I can follow?
I just looked and saw there were a few updates that installed a few days ago when this error started

Installed on 8/30/2022

The "fix" is to delete if the driver is no longer needed or get updated driver from vendor.

That is impossible for some in my list, such as the Frontier Tranzport as the company is no longer around. The Tranzport is a wireless controller I use in my recording studio.

That may be true but the page is not showing any drivers that are not compatible so I have no idea what to update or uninstall

For everyone else this has been the WDCsam64.sys driver. Do you have a Western Digital Passport USB drive.? If so, plug it in. Once it's plugged in, device manager will show a category of 'WD Drive Management Devices.' Expand that category and you will see 'WD SES Device'. Right click on the device and select uninstall. Check the box to uninstall the driver.

Once it's uninstalled you should be able to turn on memory integrity.

There will be no incompatible drivers shown until you have scanned for them. The only way to scan for them is to try to turn on memory integrity. Only after that will you see the option to review incompatible drivers. Go to settings-Privacy and Security-click 'Open Windows Security'-Device Security-Core Isolation Details-Toggle memory integrity to on. It will scan for drivers and you will then see Review incompatible drivers.

The device associated with whatever driver is causing the problem does not necessarily have to be in use. The driver only has to be present in the driver store for it to kick out that error.

OTHER THINGS THAT CAN PREVENT YOU FROM TURNING ON MEMORY INTEGRITY.
Another thing that can prevent turning on memory integrity is ‘Virtual Machine Platform’ and ‘Windows Hypervisor Platform’ optional features are not turned on.It's possible that you can fix the issues you are facing just by enabling these features. settings-apps-optional features-scroll down to 'More Windows features'
Scroll down from the separately opened window until you locate the ‘Virtual Machine Platform’ option. Then, click on the checkbox preceding the option to select it. After that, just below the ‘Virtual Machine Platform’ you will be able to locate the ‘Windows Hypervisor Platform’ option. Once located, click on the checkbox preceding the option to select it. Finally, click on the ‘OK’ button to proceed.

There's also a possibility some installed app has installed an incompatible driver. You can attempt to enable memory integrity from a clean boot.
Note: If you are able to turn on memory integrity from clean boot, more than likely when you do a normal boot, windows security will turn it off again until you narrow down the app and it's associated driver that is incompatible.

I had the same issue as the OP did. This happened to me shortly after getting a recent Windows update. I used a slightly different approach to resolving the issue. In Device Manager, in the view menu, I chose "show hidden devices", found the WD driver and uninstalled it. I did not connect the removable drive. Then rebooted the PC, turned memory integrity back on, and had to restart the PC to save the changes. Memory integrity is now working. Thanks for the tip.

As I already mentioned, and the screen capture indicates, I have tried to turn on memory integrity as you mentioned and clicked on review incompatible drivers. That screen shows nothing.

Also, I never had a WD drive and I checked and it does not appear in device manager

So this sounds like typical microsoft BS. There is a hidden driver somewhere for something. Because the memory integrity will not show it there is no way I can remove it. Looks like I am going to have to live without this feature of windows 11

As my system is used for my recording studio, I'll have to run with memory integrity off, or maybe use a 3rd party AV program. Flagged drivers are needed and as previously noted no new drivers will ever be issued since defunct company.

Mine doesn't even flag any drivers that are suspect. Looks like I am going to have to use it without this feature also unless someone can come up with a reasonable troubleshooting. I will keep an eye on the threads just in case

I had an optional driver update showing in Windows update for my keyboard. Foolishly I installed it. next boot, memory integrity has been disabled (due to the driver in Windows Update). Took me absolutely hours to find all of it.
Back to normal now and the optional update is there again...
Clearly needs a little something. Maybe a warning before installation, as both rolling back the driver, un-installing (with driver) did nothing.

There are so many kinds of errors it is impossible to tell what is a warning and what is related to this memory integrity issue

There are so many kinds of errors it is impossible to tell what is a warning and what is related to this memory integrity issue
The trick is knowing when to look in the Event Viewer, and an entry appears every time the "Event" occurs, usually these can be triggered to get a new entry in the Log. It looks overwhelming, but mostly it's repeated occurrences of the same few events, except information, and audit successes which are the vast majority of "working as intended" entries, and are not what we typically go to Event Viewer for.

In order of severity it's Critical, Error, Warning, with Security Audit Failure, dependent on what failed, it usually means a certification issue, like one failing to update, when time limit runs out, with software you have been using just fine, it's more of an administration problem than a coding one.

I was under the impression you'd fixed the initial issue, but if not just recreate the event notification which should generate a new log entry.

Once you have the culprit, often you can fix things with reinstall, update, or removal, and if not you have the event log to post for those that know more than you do, and somebody always knows more than you, or you'd have fixed it yourself.

I cleared the logs and tried to turn on memory integrity again. After I got the same error I went back into event viewer and there were no errors.
