“There will be no changes to Microsoft users’ commercial (Microsoft Entra) or consumer (Microsoft account) sign in experiences in February,” confirms Alex Simons, corporate vice president of identity & network access program management at Microsoft, in a statement to The Verge. “Media reports were based on incomplete information mistakenly published by a Microsoft product team. The incorrect notifications have been removed.”

The web browser sign-in experience is changing when you sign in to any product or service using your Microsoft account. Starting in February 2025, you will stay signed in automatically unless you sign out or use private browsing.

If you sign in on your own computer, your browser will remember your sign-in information, but if you sign in on a computer, phone or tablet that doesn't belong to you, or is accessed by other people, you should follow the steps below to use a private browsing window instead.

Private browsing ensures that others won't be able to:
  • Access your Microsoft account, OneDrive or Outlook.com mailbox.
  • See your search and browsing history.
To sign out from your Microsoft account in a web browser, select your profile picture in the top right corner of the page and select Sign out.

Not sure if I find this at all convenient. Although I couldn’t remember how many people I have tried to assist, who wanted a way to stay signed in to their Online MS Account, as Denny does above.

Thanks Brinks, I did read the article but despite it saying "You have been signed out" that "If you sign in on your own computer, your browser will remember your sign-in information," So based on what I'm seeing and experiencing, it says you're signed out, but when you go back in it, then your automatically signed back in again

Your sign-in experience is changing​

The web browser sign-in experience is changing when you sign in to any product or service using your Microsoft account. Starting in February 2025, you will stay signed in automatically unless you sign out or use private browsing.

If you sign in on your own computer, your browser will remember your sign-in information, but if you sign in on a computer, phone or tablet that doesn't belong to you, or is accessed by other people, you should follow the steps below to use a private browsing window instead.

Private browsing ensures that others won't be able to:
  • Access your Microsoft account, OneDrive or Outlook.com mailbox.
  • See your search and browsing history.
To sign out from your Microsoft account in a web browser, select your profile picture in the top right corner of the page and select Sign out.

First, I'd like to thank "antpants" for diligently assisting me last night concerning this manner. Later I experimented with Google Chrome and MS Edge browser and the behavior described only occurred with the MS Edge browser. What I was experiencing was a result of the above article, not because some setting(s) were being managed by an organization as previously suspected. What I did was download Privacy Eraser Portable, and clicked all the options under the Windows tab. One was "windows credentials". So after I ran the feature and rebooted, I no longer had the problem. When I went back to Outlook, entered my email address, this time and each time after it asked for a password. So not sure what Microsoft is telling folks but from what I was experiencing If you sign in on your own computer, your browser will remember your sign-in information and you will stay signed in automatically, even after signing out when you exit the Outlook application. So Beware..

11 automatically creates passkey, which can not be blocked and removed. Once you login to MSA, it is forever.
