Microsoft Scan in Win10, Is There a Stand Alone Exe?

I'm using Microsoft Scan, the app that came with Win10 (not Microsoft Fax & Scan). It is all I need for scanning purposes. But I can't find an executable on the machine. Is there one, or maybe it is built in a dll file somewhere?
I have a Brother MSC-465CN which still works great, and Microsoft Scan works very well in Windows 10. But it isn't included in Win 11 so if I upgrade to 11 I'd like to be able to somehow import Scan to it. I tried Microsoft Fax and Scan and that works as far as its limited use goes but it kinda stinks as far as functionality is concerned.

To provide initial functionality Microsoft has included some "lite" versions of programs over the years. The companies provided them intending for a user to want something better, more fully featured and willing to pay for it. I haven't worked with a Brother printer in quite awhile but the software/app for HP printers include much more than Windows Fax and Scan does. I've used Adobe Acrobat [not cheap] and its free Adobe Acrobat Reader for quite awhile, first got Acrobat for a project that essentially more than paid for it and have done the less-expensive upgrades, have remained steady at Version 8 and 9.

Just checked my Win11 and Win10 and believe what you asked about probably came from the Store. A Search for Microsoft Scan leads to the Store but I didn't check further.

It appears Windows Scan is in the Microsoft Store so you can probably install it in Win11. I'm still looking for the executable.

Hey, you're right. I didn't find this when I checked last but that was a long time ago; I don't check the Store since I don't have much of a need for their apps. Except this one But it indeed is there. I wish Brother had maintained support for this workhorse printer, it did have a fairly robust scan function, but it no longer works with the passing of time and new OSs. Fortunately, Scan does still connect with the printer . . . so far! So when I upgrade I'll get MS Scan from the store. If it is still available then.

Personally, I know nothing about Windows Fax and Scan. I just opened the app which I didn't know existed, and read the directions to fax and to scan. But it doesn't detect my Brother printer/scanner from my laptop via wifi. This isn't an issue for me as I have no need for the app on this Win 11 laptop. And scanning works just fine on the Win10 desktop where the scanner is located. But I hope you can get you issue resolved.

It's called scanapp.exe. I downloaded the app from MS Store.

My default installs of Win11 have the Windows Fax and Scan app in Start, All apps and Windows Tools. In Win10 it was in Windows Accessories. It could be that when doing the installs the computers were connected to my Router which also has 2 printers connected to it via Ethernet cable. Win10 and Win11 have been pretty good at picking up connected hardware for at least the basics.
