Missing date modified

I have modified the dates on several hundred JPGs with xnview MP but 20 of them now no longer display the date modified in file explorer or in file properties
Can I fix this please
Also is it no longer possible to modify the date modified in file properties
Thanks

Try opening them in the Windows 11 Photo app and saving them as the same name, same format and writing over the original (Or making a copy to test the theory)
Also, sometimes patience is needed in a forum. Best to get a couple of members that knows how to help than 50 who don’t.

Having said that, I am just offering an untried possible solution so that you don’t think members are ignoring you..

Try opening the photo with your photo viewer and then 'Save as' and choose the same filename but add (2) to it and then okay it.
Example: Photo name = xyz.jpg then 'save as' xyz (2).jpg in the same location.
You can then look at the properties of xyz (2).jpg to see if the date modified data shows. If it does you can then delete the original xyz.jpg and rename xyz (2).jpg back to xyz.jpg.

What graphic editor apps do you have?

I would suggest getting the dimensions of the image.

  • Open an editor
  • Open the image
  • Create a new blank image with the same dimensions
  • “Select All” of the original image (Ctrl A?)
  • “Paste” into the new blank image (Ctrl V?)
    • Most graphic apps have the same basic hotkeys as most apps.
  • Save the image

That’s a “new” replica of your image.

Did you check that the images aren’t “Read Only”? (If that even makes a difference)

Well I found an online job repair tool repaired the files and date modified came back
Used xnview MP to change the exif dates using the date modified, now the files are back as they were
Xnview says all dates Inc modified are visible and correct but file explorer shows them as blank very confusing
