Solved Missing Desktop Icon and Unresponsive Taskbar icon

So guys the issue of the missing desktop icon and unresponsive taskbar came back...

But We may have found the problem.

As I said the NEW PC was built by PC Specialists (great by the way)
I also bought a new monitor, keyboard and mouse

The monitor came with 3 cables, I put them all in the back of the pc

I phoned pc specialist today and they took a remote look at my pc - the first thing he asked is do I have 2 monitors, no I said, but the system was showing 2 - this is probably why I was getting a black screen - the pc was showing the second monitor.

I have removed 2 of the cables

I will leave the settings as they are and see if this also solves the taskbar issue

it does now look (fingers crossed) that this was a setup issue of my own making - having too many cables in the back of the PC making it think I had 2 monitors.
