WinDirStat says my C: totals 71.2GB and File Explorer says I'm using 96.1GB of C:

WinDirStat normally reads everything so I'm scratching my head wondering where the other 26GB is.

WinDirStat is from 2008, maybe try something better like WizTree or TreeFile.

Since stock apps have deeper level access to the system, it is likely giving out the correct information (unless there is a bug).

Look at the size allotted for system restore and if you're using hibernate the size of your hiberfil.sys (this is a hidden folder so to see it you have to go to file explorer options-view tab-check box next to 'show hidden files, folders, and drives.) I agree with @TairikuOkami that TreeSize is a good program for finding what eats your disk space.

Windows 11 - Release Preview channel
Thanks for the replies. I determined the issue was I was not running the app as administrator and therefore the app didn't have access to some files.

I also found an app on the MS store called TreeSize free. Is anybody familiar with it?
