Monitor dead?!

One of mine stopped about 18 months ago but then came back on later. So I thought OK, into the bin. It was a samsung, now I have a Coolermaster 27 inch - beautiful. Cant recall cost but it was lot less than £200. When thin gs like these go screwy, throwaway is my motto. Unless of course under warranty/guarantee.

I'm looking at a 4K Dell, I've had Dell in the past and they always seem reliable and well built. I'm using one now to tide me over until I get another 4K, it's is at least 6 years old. Good job i kept it safe for an emergency.

Dell have three year warranty which is a big plus

Dell are great, but you have had them before??? Makes senses I suppose

The Asus has a 3-year warranty so I've started an RMA with them.
Still looking at new 4K screens after I returned the shiny new LG this morning

If more than one 4K monitor conks out, I'd say it's the system rather than the monitor. But what do I know . . .

It didn't conk out, I wasn't happy with the performance. See my post here LG 32GR93U problems - returned to shop

Not entirely sure how a PC can stop a monitor from working completely (as in no power, not just stuck in standby), which is what the Asus one did.

Asus have approved my RMA and are actually going to do a swap-out (faulty for working). Not sure if it'll be a refurb or a brand-new unit, but either way it will be working again.
Just got to wait for them to arrange courier pickup. Hopefully I'll have my 4K back within a week or so. To be honest the VG289Q is a decent 'budget' monitor for 4K, I've always liked using it.

UPDATE: Being collected tomorrow by DPD, I could be back in 4K by next week, all being well.

Well done to Asus, I got my replacement monitor back within three days. DPD collected it Wednesday, DPD said I'd be getting a package on Monday. It arrived yesterday

All seems ok, in terms of light bleed and IPS glow it's no worse or better than the one that broke - nothing too bad at this price point. It's also a year newer, manufacturer date of Sept 2022, my other one was bought in July 2021.

It came complete with the stand and base, which the Asus guy said wouldn't be the case (due to the weight). It didn't have the PSU or cables but I have them anyway. It looks like it may have been a demo model or customer return. Main thing is it's working again now.

Good RMA process from Asus.

My guess is that it's a refurb. Asus would give it a thorough going over to make sure that it was back to a brand new condition as possible before using it as an exchange.
