Mouse Frequently Moves to Top Left Corner on Its Own

My mouse frequently moves on its own to the top left corner of my screen.

I’ve checked that I have the latest BIOS and Windows.

I turned off mouse "jump to default."

My Logitechs have been doing this for about 6 months, fresh install or otherwise. I’d like to know what causes it. It doesn’t happen every time but certainly too frequently and every day. For me it happens when I head to the start menu button on the bottom left courner of my screen. I suspect for me at least, Start11 might have something to do with it but still haven’t had time to test it out.

Try a different mouse. Or take your mouse to a mate's computer and test it there. If you unplug the mouse, does the pointer move?

Have you uninstalled the driver and tried the generic MS driver?

Have you got a Bluetooth or wireless mouse tucked away in a drawer? This caused a similar problem to another member.

Over a year ago I have had terrible issues with my mouse. Although, I never saw a problem with the cursor going to the upper left.

The cursor would move erratically or text selection would be poor, etc.. I tested with about a dozen different devices and the only one that fixed the issues was a corded mouse. However, I don't like corded mice so I switched it out for a Logitech M650 wireless. The problem showed up, but after playing with the various mouse adjustments, the problem went away. With every different mouse, I had to adjust the various mouse adjustments to get them to work to my liking.

My son uses a Logitech G602 Light Speed (IMHO, too many buttons) on his work laptop (W11). Initially he did have problems, but his company IT department worked it all out.

I also have a W10 desktop that uses a Logitech M185 wireless mouse/keyboard combination and it works great. No issues at all.

I do use a cheap thin black mouse pad under the M650 and M185 mice, to make sure the movement is smooth. I buy them at the grocery store for $3-$5. I keep a couple of spares on hand, because they do wear out.

My primary mouse is wired. However, I do have a wireless Logitech keyboard/mouse (that I use as a remote volume control.)
It appears that the cursor only jumps to the upper left hand corner when the Logitech USB receiver module is plugged into the computer.
Next step is to uninstall all USB drivers?
How long do the batteries last in those Logitech keyboards? I'll go ahead and replace it/them.

If you can type, it’s working.

If I set my Start Menu button to the center, mine stops jumping. Where is the mouse cursor when yours jumps?
Is there any particular spot that the cursor is before it jumps or can it be in a random spot? Mine jumps to the top left when I go to the bottom left corner.

It looks like the erratic mouse movement is related to my Logitech K400 Plus Wireless Keyboard with built-in Touchpad.
Replacing the batteries didn't solve the problem.
Removing and replacing the USB receiver didn't solve the problem. (Removing without replacing does stop the problem.)
The Logitech listed solutions, that I am able to perform didn't help.

Are you able to disconnect/turn off the touchpad on the keyboard?
I can’t remember if the setting is in Windows Settings or Logitech Software for your keyboard.

Worth a try, there may be a conflict with the touchpad and the mouse.

Is there a way of deactivating the touchpad in Windows 11 *when typing*? When I type the mouse jumps all over the screen causing havoc, probably due to the palms of my hands touching the touchpad.

I haven't been able to find a way of deactivating the touchpad on the Bluetooth keyboard. I haven't been able to figure out which mouse is the one on the Bluetooth Logitech keyboard.

It looks like one USB Receiver processes all signals to and from the Logitech Keyboard.

I'm not sure if any of these Bluetooth devices control just the touchpad. And what would keep the system from reinstalling it?

On the Logitech support page, I don't see any method of disabling just the touchpad.

Is there not a Logitech software that comes with your keyboard? I think the software is Logi Options+
Possibly a setting in there. Disabling drivers/bluetooth may render the keyboard useless.

Were there not any hints in the thread I posted above?

The keyboard worked instantly when USB module was plugged into my computer.
I did just find a reference to Logitech software for the keyboard, but the linking page is now 404.
I’ve only been able to find references to disabling a laptop’s touchpad when an external mouse is added. That’s how I found all of those references to USB and Bluetooth mice I posted above.

Thanks for your help antspants, it turns out the problem was caused by AutoHideMouseCursor. Turning it off solved the problem.
