Hi experts,

I am running into BSODs every 30 minutes, after initially getting them once every few days.

What I have tried so far
  1. Re-installed Windows 11.
  2. Updated Motherboard bios.
  3. Ensured all drivers were updated. Ran "Verifier"" to check unsigned non Microsoft drivers.
  4. Changed Windows power settings.
  5. Kept installed apps to a minimum
  6. Ran DISM tools, ChkDsk and Windows Memory testing.
  7. Installed the Microsoft SDK kit to look at dumps.
  8. Uninstalled Bitdefender (featured in two of the crashes), the NVIDIA card is featuring in the recent ones. Reinstalled the NVIDIA drivers.
  9. The Video card appears properly seated, there was more dust inside the pc than I expected.
  10. Tried underclocking the Video Card
System is 3 years old, just out of warranty

Crash reports here, thank you all in advance!

Thank you very much for your quick response.

I have followed the steps above, other than I am about to run the second pass on Memtest86 now (first pass attached as zipfile).

I do note that the DiskParInfo shows my two WD data drives (that I run as a pool) being invalid.

There were new BSOD bugchecks: EF, 1E, 7E

There were 5 BSOD with bugcheck 50 that were collected by the log collector.

All of these BSOD were cause by misbehaving Nvidia GPU drivers nvlddmkm.sys.

1) Please check to see whether the installed RAM modules (F4-3200C16-8GTZSW) are or are not on the Qualified Vendor List (QVL).

2) The computer that I'm using does not have the software to open:
Duplicate-Master
Mappit

What were / are these?

3) This was one of the commands in the earlier post.
See if the computer can run this one in administrative PS:
(GP "HKLM:\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Power\")."HibernateEnabled"

4) Boot into safe mode (shift to restart) > open administrative command prompt and type or copy and paste:

Verifier /reset

Reboot

Post a new V2.

5) Turn off Windows updates of non-Microsoft drivers:

6) Uninstall Nvidia GPU drivers nvlddmkm.sys using Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU).
Reinstall from the Nvidia website.
Make sure that the clean install box is checked and if available install the Physx driver.

And make sure that the driver that is reinstalled is different from: 27.21.14.5671

7) If there are more BSOD caused by Nvidia GPU drivers nvlddmkm.sys then plan to test one more driver version.

If multiple driver versions continue to cause BSOD then plan to swap test the hardware.

For swap testing either Nvidia or AMD GPU can be used.

8) For any new BSOD post a new V2 into the newest post.
(please only post the new V2 into the newest post)
(allow the older links to remain in the older posts)
(this will allow a comparison of before and after)

These Ryzen 2000-series systems are known to sometimes have some weird behavior causing random BSODs. But in most cases they're fixable.

Here are a few steps you could do:
  1. Since you updated the BIOS, do a full reset of it
  2. Disable AMDv (Virtualization) for the time being in BIOS
  3. disconnect everything except your GPU, RAM and main HDD/SSD for now
  4. Reinstall windows, wiping the whole bootdrive
  5. When in Windows, start by installing latest chipset driver for your motherboard. Reboot
  6. For all the other drivers let Windows manage them automatically for now.
  7. If there are missing drivers, install them manually
  8. Disable Hibernation/FastStartup in Windows
  9. Install any app you need, one by one and run them as normally.
One important note:
Do NOT install any 3rd party Antivirus or any other system tools that change how the OS behave.

Run your system as normally and post reports here after a few days or the moment you get a BSOD. Add to your post what you were doing and what the BSOD error was.

Thanks zbook,

I have followed these steps, the newest v2 is here

The two files you couldn't open (Mappit! and Duplicate Master) were Excel addins that I wrote and have made available for download.

Thanks SlicEnDice for your post as well.

I will see if systsem stabilises, if not will your suggested steps as well.

Thanks both!

Yes, the temperatures all looked okay.

More BSODs today even after trying different GEFORCE drivers so I have bitten the bullet and am reinstalling Windows again (will try Home this time).

I have also ordered some canned air to clean out the insides.

Will consider buying a new video card if the crashes continue unabated.

If you prefer not to swap test the GPU card this is an additional method for testing purposes.

Please make free backup images and save the images to another disk drive or the cloud.

Clean install Windows 10. (this is a "vanilla" type installation: no additional drivers or applications)

Sometimes a clean install may install non-Microsoft drivers.

Post a new V2.

Install chipset drivers displayed on the MSI website.

Monitor the computer for a week to see if there are any unexpected shutdowns and restart.

If there are no unexpected shutdowns and restarts then install GPU drivers from the Nvidia website.

If there are any BSOD or unexpected shutdowns and restarts then post a new V2 into the newest post.
(please do not include the other files and allow the old files to remain in the old posts)

Try to make it simple as possible.
- Only one memory stick
- Internal graphics (if possible)
- Detach (SATA or power cable) of all other drives.
- Clean boot

Hi all,

Thanks for the ongoing help.

  1. Clean install and updated chipset completed
  2. New V2 here

There a range of windows updates available that include driver updates (see sceenshot) - presume these should all be left incomplete for now while I see if there are any further BSODs?

The log collector displayed that the Nvidia GPU drivers are already installed.

The AMD CPU has no integrated GPU (iGPU).

So the Nvidia GPU drivers must be installed.

Hi,

That is correct, must have occurred during the install (I had left the video card in place as I did this before reading Megahertz’s post above saying on-board driver only), control panel says it is a 2020 driver

It looks like it came with the Windows iso.

The image that you posted displayed the same driver as a pending download.

It is testing the same GPU driver that had caused BSOD earlier in the thread.

Windows updates of non-Microsoft can be turned off.

DDU can be used to uninstall the Nvidia GPU driver and an older driver can be tested.

Or you can wait to swap test the GPU card.

If there is another PCIe port on the motherboard it also can be tried.

I uninstalled the graphics card today, but couldn’t get the on-board VGA working.

No option in the bios to directly enable the on board VGA and downloading the AMD drivers also didn’t work.

Will see if I can source a spare video card to test.

There's always the option to enable/disable intergrated graphics or in my case the APU graphics. I have a similar mobo if not the same as yours and there's defo the option as you can choose (if you can) between integrated graphics or discrete. You'll have to check all the menu options and sub-options as it could be buried and not obvious. I just updated my bios to the May release as i have been having probs with the AMD Ftpm playing havoc with my win 11. gawd its been a slideshow for months.

AMD F-TPU, upgrade from Windows 10, 5/2022 Bios update
I uninstalled the graphics card today, but couldn’t get the on-board VGA working.

No option in the bios to directly enable the on board VGA and downloading the AMD drivers also didn’t work.

Will see if I can source a spare video card to test.

You don't have integrated graphics on a Ryzen 5 2600.
