Solved My icons disappeared task manager is not opening

My icons disappeared task manager is not opening and I can't even open any shortcut or applications' properties dialog [Fix: Task Manager Not Opening on Windows 10 - Appuals.com)] I tried these fixes but it did nothing

Icons literally disappeared there not even hitbox to click plz help

Hello, and welcome to Eleven Forum.

It sounds like your system may be frozen.

You could try doing a hard restart by:

1) Pressing and holding the physical power button until the PC powers off.

2) Press and release the power button to turn on and power up the PC.

my pc is not froze its working absolutely fine expect those features
also already have restarted my PC multiple times full scanned and already tried above link cmds

to restore from a restore point i still need to have one but unfortunately I never made one so yeah also if I switch accounts my other account working fine so laptop is fine but some internal setting got messed up btw thanks u trying to help me

What happen b4 this...what were you doing? You can try rebuilding your icon cache...although i think your issue may be deeper.

Goto C:\Users\WhateverYourUserIs\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Explorer & delete everything in there, then restart your pc.

This is a bit more drastic, but you could try doing a repair install of Windows 11 below to try and repair this without losing anything.

i want to make sure if this will have any problems because I have original windows That came with my laptop so installing iso [which was not recommended by anyone when I was trying to install windows 11]

As long as the ISO you use for the repair install is the same version, edition, and language as you currently have installed, you shouldn't have any issue.

Of course, you should always back up anything you do not want to lose to be safe.

First thing I would try is to shutdown Windows via shutdown /s /t 10 in the run box. Sometimes that fixes things and worth a try.

Why should the ISO be of the same version? Won't a newer version of the same Edition work?

Nothing will happen if you install an ISO that is downloaded directly from Microsoft website. No one would recommend against doing this.

However, if you are doing a clean install, you should backup your existing drivers and the factory configured Recovery partition.

The ISO can be a higher build as long as it's the same version. If it's not the same version, there's a chance it may not allow to keep everything.
