Solved My windows have sharp corners

I finally completed my third (and hopefully successful) clean install of Windows 11. Just in case explorer.exe started crashing again and made it too laggy to do anything, I opened an administrative command prompt. I also opened Taste Manager.

However, I noticed something different about the window corners of Task Manager. I looked closer and they were sharp corners.

I prefer the sharp corners over the rounded ones, but I'm very confused as to why they aren't round in the first place, as this is Windows 11. I'm wondering if something is wrong.

Rounded corners are the most immediately noticeable feature of Windows 11 Geometry. On Windows 11, the system automatically rounds top-level window corners for all inbox apps, including all UWP apps, and most other apps. However, some Win32 apps might not be rounded.

Looking for an answer for you if someone doesn’t have one already.

I'm not certain this applies in your situation but I've always found after a Windows 11 install everything has 'sharp' corners until the proper video drivers are installed.

The 'basic' video driver provided for a Windows 11 install doesn't (usually) give rounded corners.

Are your graphics drivers up to date?

Quite a few things can go askew until you’ve updated drivers in Windows. Graphics drivers are definitely one of the causes.

I was able to successfully setup Windows 11 offline, and I assume the drivers are not updated enough. I think the audio drivers definitely need to be updated, since there's an X icon on the sound icon.

The 'basic' video driver provided for a Windows 11 install doesn't (usually) give rounded corners.

The reason for square corners (if you haven't changed any reg settings) is Windows won't enable the advanced visual styles unless it can do HW acceleration. Until you install the proper drivers, it can only assume you have a very basic GPU. And turning on the fancy rendering will be a performance hit since the CPU has to do what the GPU normally does.
