Whenever I launch Microsoft Edge, my startup page is MSN.com. Upon clicking the Outlook icon at the top of the webpage, I am directed to a sign-in page where I enter my email address and telephone number. When I input my email address and click "Next," the system automatically signs me into my Outlook mailbox without prompting for a password. Before exiting Outlook, I select “sign-out,” which confirms that I am signed out. Subsequently, I close the webpage. However, if I access Outlook again later or restart the computer, the same sequence repeats when I open Microsoft Edge and click the Outlook icon, I get signed in automatically.

I would like to disable this automatic sign-in behavior so that it prompts for a password each time. Despite thoroughly searching Microsoft Edge settings, I have been unable to locate an option to change this behavior. Several Google searches suggested potential solutions, but the recommended settings were not present.

I understand that Microsoft is making changes to eliminate passwords, but this situation is perplexing. Any suggestions on resolving this issue would be greatly appreciated

but the recommended settings were not present.

Does it say at the top of your Edge settings page something like “this is managed by your administrator” or “managed by your organization“ or anything similar?

antspants-No, it does not state "this is managed by your administrator” or “managed by your organization“ or anything similar on top of the webpage. Give me a second so I can read the link you provided.

So nothing at the top of settings, you mentioned no. But just want to confirm?

Alternatively, I would post in that tutorial thread and mention that the “specific settings“ you need, that are not present. Hopefully Brink or someone will reply.

No it's not present, I double checked. I am signed out of my profile in MS Edge but as stated this behavior still persists. I have two computers and checked the other one and same behavior is present. Well hopefully "Brinks" will know something more. I do appreciate you looking at it though.

No that did not work either. Not sure if that would because the problem starts when i click on that Outlook icon, read below again:
Whenever I launch Microsoft Edge, my startup page is MSN.com. Upon clicking the Outlook icon at the top of the webpage, I am directed to a sign-in page where I enter my email address and telephone number. When I input my email address and click "Next," the system automatically signs me into my Outlook mailbox without prompting for a password. However, if I access Outlook again later or restart the computer, the same sequence repeats when I open Microsoft Edge and click the Outlook icon, I get signed in automatically.

I would like to disable this automatic sign-in behavior

Stupsi, are you able to enter this into the Edge address bar and remove the password for Outlook.com?

edge://settings/profiles/passwords

Copy paste this into the Edge address bar edge://settings/profiles/passwords
This will take you to a page in Settings
At the bottom of that page, click on "Passwords"
This will open Microsoft Wallet
Remove the password for Outlook

Then see if you can disable the automatic sign-in feature in Edge's settings.
  1. Open Microsoft Edge: and click the ellipsis (three dots) in the top-right corner.
  2. Select "Settings" .
  3. Under Setting/Profiles/ Click "Profile settings" .
  4. Click "Profile preferences" .
  5. Toggle off "Automatic sign in on Microsoft Account" .
  6. Toggle off "Allow single sign in for work or school sites using profile (Not sure if this is relevant though}

Automatic sign in on Microsoft Edge is off

This is also off " If you're not signed in currently on Microsoft Edge, we'll automatically sign you in by using your sign in info from other Microsoft sites like Outlook." But I noticed that it is grayed out and says this "setting is managed by your organization. Maybe we're getting somewhere but don't know what it says that

setting is managed by your organization

Pretty sure I asked if you see that?

There are any one of 1000 tweaks made to Edge that can cause that message. Edge does not in any way like tweaks applied to it.
If you remember any that you made, undo them
Also, I believe there is a way to reset the policy for Edge, I’ll have to find it.

Any change can cause that message. I hate Edge, which is why it’s taking so long for me to try and help you. I just don’t use it. (Maybe the very odd occasion)
