Network sharing broke after working many years OK

Open PowerShell as Administrator and execute:

Set-SmbClientConfiguration -RequireSecuritySignature $false

This will restore the older security settings and you should be able to connect from all computers. If you also want access without using a password, also execute this command:

Set-SmbClientConfiguration -EnableInsecureGuestLogons $true
You already suggested this in post 16, and OP says they did the first one in post 11. This isn't a guest access issue if he's not even resolving an IPv4 address for the remote computer.

On Starship, can you disable the hosts file entries again, and run these in Powershell?

Powershell:
Resolve-DnsName darkmatter -Type A
Resolve-DnsName darkmatter -Type AAAA
Get-DnsClientServerAddress -AddressFamily IPv4
Get-DnsClientServerAddress -AddressFamily IPv6

@MisterEd Is there a reason you're using Comcast's DNS servers (75.75.x.x) for name resolution instead of your router?
