Copilot Appearance is an experiment that gives you a new, visual way to chat with Copilot, powered by real-time expressions, voice, and conversational memory.



What if you could see Copilot react and speak as you chat? With this experiment, we are bringing more non-verbal communication to Copilot, enhancing voice conversations with real-time visual expression. This early prototype allows you to chat, brainstorm, seek advice, or just mess around with Copilot, in a more engaging and expressive way.

How it works​

1. Enter Voice mode by clicking the microphone icon on copilot.microsoft.com.
2. Open the Voice settings menu by clicking the gear icon.
3. Turn on the settings toggle for Copilot Appearance.
4. Ask a question or simply say "hi!" and see Copilot react and speak back with smiles, nods, and other expressions.

Note: If the Appearance toggle is missing, you are not currently part of the test flight group. Please check back soon!

How can I access Copilot Appearance?​

Copilot Appearance is an experimental feature available to select users. If you’re part of the test group, you can access it by hopping into Voice mode on the web version of Copilot by clicking the microphone icon, opening Voice settings via the gear button, and toggling on "Appearance." Since this is an early prototype, availability may change during testing.

How can I turn off this experiment?​

If you have opted in to this experiment, you can turn off the Appearance at any time in Voice settings. Navigate to Voice mode on the web version of Copilot, click the gear button, then toggle off the “Appearance” setting.

Does Copilot Appearance utilize voice?​

Yes, this experiment leverages Copilot’s existing synthesized voice technology to enable a more vibrant, visual conversation.

Is Copilot Appearance available in Enterprise or M365 Copilot plans?​

At this time, this experiment is only part of the consumer Copilot offering available at copilot.microsoft.com. You are required to sign in with your personal Microsoft account to use this Copilot feature.

What features are still in the works?​
