I don’ty know about Android but IOS will automatically update if the settings say so, or you can manually update an app.
Turn on Automatic Updates
Go to Settings > Apps > App Store.
Turn On App updates
Change whatever settings you want/need to
Manually Update an App
Go to the App Store app on your iDevice (iPhone/iPad).
Tap or your picture at the top right.
Scroll down, then tap Update next to apps you want to update, or tap Update All.
After an app is updated, it appears in the list of apps below Updated Recently.

Me... I don't put anything from MS, or anyone else on my android phone.
Then again, I'm old and don't need to sync my world.

Still assembled, still runs. Haven't turned it on for 15 years?
I don't put anything from MS on my android phone.
Me neither..., especially if you have all Google accounts, it's rather pointless.
I have a Google account on my Outlook
Classic Desktop, in the past, I've installed Outlook on my old Android and synced it back, just to see if it performs better..., it doesn't.

My main problem with Outlook is the tremendous amount of spam messages I receive each day. Off the scale some days. I rarely get any from Gmail; how odd is that

My main problem with Outlook is the tremendous amount of spam messages I receive each day.
Interesting, I have not got any spam in decades and I post my emails everywhere.
But I also forward them, like GMX > Gmail > Outlook, Gmail blocks many legitimate.
