This may not be a very good question, but for anyone that is using the new Outlook preview version on the developer channels... how do you check for new mail? I'm looking at it, but I'm not seeing the send/receive button. Maybe it's right in front of me and I'm missing it? Thanks for the help.

The Outlook Preview only allows for IMAP email accounts. IMAP is like the cloud of email. With IMAP you are actually looking at the email on the server, not a downloaded local copy of the email. Think of the Outlook Preview as nothing more than a front-end for accessing the email through a web browser, it does not download email from the server, it only displays it. Therefore, there is no need for send/receive. Old Outlook allowed for POP email which required Outlook to actually download the email from the server to your local computer to see it and it required an upload of new emails to the server for sending.

Ok, sounds good... thanks for the reply. So, basically all emails will instantly show in the client? What about the times, for instance, I send an email from a link in the old Outlook, but it doesn't actually send until I open the client and press "send/receive all"? How do I prompt those to send in the new Outlook?

You can't. The old Outlook uses .pst and .ost files for storing email, including new emails waiting to be sent. The new Outlook as no .pst or .ost capabilities. It is entirely online.

So, how would you get the email to send?
