Whenever I open a news item in Edge, A new random webpage opens up in another window. How do I stop this from happening?

What second page is it opening up? Is it the same one all the time? A screenshot would be good.

If you are getting your news articles through MSN, you may have a similar problem to one I had. For me, certain news articles (but not all) opened up a second page to threatdefender.info. Malware removal tools did nothing, Clearing history, cache, and cookies, did nothing. I ended up having to block the site in my HOSTS file. Now I am very, very careful which MSN articles I read.

Hi Wally,

I don't use Edge, but perhaps it has a "pop-up" blocker. Turn that on if it is available.

That's a great idea; it is very difficult to understand exactly what the specific issue is currently.

Does it still exhibit the unwanted behaviour if you run Edge In Private mode with no extensions enabled?
EDIT: When you say open a news item where are they from, all the same website?
