OS
Windows 11 Pro for Workstations v. 24H2
Hallo folks. I recently purchased Windows 11 Pro for Workstations off Microsoft for a new build (from https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/d/windows-11-pro-for-workstations/dg7gmgf0kr4m) and, although I experienced some glitches, eventually managed to complete the buy. Immediately after I was shown a page containing a product key, which I fortuitously copied to a text file. I say fortuitously, because when I clicked away from the page, I could not get back to it for love nor money. It is now more than 48 hours later, and I have still not received a confirmation email with my product key, invoice or download link. I do have a multi-edition ISO which I will burn to USB with Rufus, so I anticipate that I will be able to install the OS when the time comes, but I expected better from Microsoft. I have been unable to contact MS support (I'm in Scotland) and feel slightly left out in the cold. Is there a way I can chase up a confirmation email?

Hi Bree, thank you for your reply. I have checked my account. While my order history does give me a tax invoice, the product key is nowhere to be found. If I had not copied it after the purchase, I would not be able to use my software. I have found no way of revisiting the page the key was on, and, without a confirmation email, have no way of checking that the key I rather hastily copied and pasted is correct. It was indicated at the time of purchase that an email would be sent to my Hotmail account, but this has not happened.

Thank you, Bree. That's coming back as "Win10 RTM ProfessionalWorkstation Retail", not Windows 11. Don't know if I've been duped. It was definitely the pukka Microsoft site I purchased from, as is reflected in my banking app. Any ideas?

Thank you, Bree. That's coming back as "Win10 RTM ProfessionalWorkstation Retail", not Windows 11.
Don't worry. Microsoft do not distinguish between a Windows 10 key and a Windows 11 key. They are all keys for Windows 10/11 and will activate either.

Non sequitur: I have a Windows 95 VM set up *exactly* the way my long-departed Pentium 120 machine had been in 1995, complete with the same wallpaper, 1024 x 768 screen resolution, Doom, Encarta 95, Office 95 and Netscape Navigator. It tickles me pink. Have magnanimously decided to run with 512MB of RAM instead of the measly 32MB of the original. The little things in life do matter.
