Not able to connect iPhone to windows 10 (on vmware)!

I have Windows10 running on VMware Workstation PRO 16.2. When I connect my iphone to my PC it asks me if I want to connect it to the host or to the Virtual machine. I choose VM and the iphone is recognized by the VM. But when I open itunes , in device section there is nothing and my iphone is not recognized. Is this a common problem or is there anything else I need to do to get my iphone connect correctly to the VM?

Finally gave up on vm and installed itunes on my PC. If anyone has the answer it will still be nice to know for the next time as I hate itunes
