It does not apply to your situation. You actually want the update to 'see' that it was previously installed.

Right ! But it seems it does not see the previous version , uninstalling ( severe) does not help either........

    Still assembled, still runs. Haven't turned it on for 15 years?
I have been fighting the same thing. I did do a fresh install with a different SSD card, but I would l rather try and get the image that isn't working upgraded because we have apps on it. I have tried the resetting the catalog and windows updates several times. The in-place upgrade fails around 57%. No matter what I do.

The biggest thing is the DISM restorehealth is failing.

My n: drive is a windows 24H2 machine where the DISM is in good shape. I tried windows\winsys and the local ISO windows 24H2 mount too!

C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc>dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth /source:n:\windows\ /limitaccess

I even tried that tune up script too.

Fortect didn't seem to help either.
