Same message "out of range"

managed to get past that by clicking NEXT a few times.

selected to back up only one of the two efi partitions ( there are two disks obviously )

it completed successfuly even though it apeared to be backing up many gbs eventually it completed with a 30mb ish image.

lets try a restore

the restore browse window showed the partitions but not which disk they are on. Had to guess which efi partition to restore to.

They have made a mess of this. It used to be good

changing winpeshl.ini to this skips that silly first screen and the out of range message

have to run startnet.cmd because without net connection it claims there is no license. That is a pita

can't find the change computer properties function that was in previous versions of diskimage

I'm still mystified why anybody would pay a premium for Disk imaging software -- there's plenty of Free options around for that purpose. Most of these also copy /manipulate partitions too.

Data Backup / Archiving is another issue and everybody has different needs on this - so there's no "One size fits all" type solution. The only criteria is that the backup works and of course the restore when you need it.

Don't always assume because a backup has completed without error that the restore will work too. Just backup a few test files and do TEST THE RESTORE from time to time otherwise you could get a nasty shock.

Sorry if I am a little off track here.

I can see you have both Hasleo Backup Suite versions 5.5.2.0 and 5.5.2.1 on your Ventoy BootMenu.

Version 5.5.2.1 is definitely backing up faster than version 5.5.2.2 (latest). I have tested both.

My question is : Does the older version 5.5.2.0 back up faster than version 5.5.2.1?

I don’t know if I am right.

Now that you have to pay for the Home Edition, it seems to me they are gradually slowing down the backup speed of the free editions.

If my theory is correct, they are trying to deprecate the free versions by throttling back their backup speed.

I would like to find out which older version has the fastest backup speed and has delta restore as well if that is the case.

Just my two cents’ worth.

Those two are about the same as far as speed goes. The 5.5.2.1 is the paid version,
however I got a free one year license for it on one of the sites I look at time to time.

I made a new image with v21 and booted to the recovery media yesterday. I have several images made with v19 and v21.
In the boot media I couldn't find any way to browse to my saved images. I rebooted to windows and started up v21 again and I fouud a way to import all the other saved images. There is also No way to mount an image in v21. It opens in the O&O interface, not as a drive. After importing all the other images, I rebuilt the recovery media and was not given an option to use my installed ADK/WinPE. It just ran straight through to the end creating the ISO. Have not had a chance to test this yet. Later today I will see if all the other images show up in the boot media. Long story short, I'm thinking I may stick to v19.

What looks interesting about O&O is their "Machine Independent Restoration" for moving a Windows installation to a completely different PC with different hardware drivers.

Do any other backup apps have that feature?

    The only thing it lack is USB-3.2 on the front face but it has 3.0 on the back
So bottom line, Is V19 faster than Macrium X?

I couldnt find that feature in v21. It was previously under Tools > Change computer properties

I don't know. I'm old (85) and been down most of the day and haven't been able to test it.
I know that yesterday it booted straight into the interface. On my v19 boot media it boots to a preliminary screen with 4 icons.

MR X subscription should be enough. if you enable validation, you will have yourself a solid and reliable backup.

You could get a second backup tool if it is free.
There are lots of free backup software out there. Veeam and O&O Diskimage are a case in point.

I was the one to post the original link for v21.
I like @SIW2 have been having problems with the v21 boot media.
If all my friends hadn't showed up last night with lots of booze, I might feel like testing today.
But go figure, I have a hangover.

@pewa, I haven't drank since my early '70s except a glass of wine every night to help me go to sleep.
That was at my doctors advice because I don't really want to take medications to go to sleep.
Yesterday after posting I took some aspirins and a coupla melatonins and slept til 5:00am this morning.

OK guys and gals, back to O&O. The interface for the boot media has been totally re-written from previous versions.
After importing my existing previous backups and rebuilding the boot media, I got a totally different interface.
It was showing all my previous backups and there was a way to browse to others.
So my conclusion is that it is still very usable.
