O2 plus Virgin have been upgrading sites and now you can get 5G and wifi calls on PAYG and PAYM not just 12+ month contracts.
I do not know about MVNO sims e.g. Tesco which use VMO2 network.
I can now use wifi calling in Aberdeen (usually one of last places to get such an upgrade).
I have O2 Payg classic sims on both my android and iphone as backup in case main service provider fails.
Bizarrely, the iphone O2 Sim works with wifi calling but the android S22+ does not.
According to VMO2 website, wifi calling will only work on android handsets bought from VMO2.
That is absolute rubbish

All other pay sims work fine with my non O2 android wifi calling provided SIM carrier supports it.
