Hello All

In July i had some extra funds saved up. I weighed the decision for over a month, then decided ok will do a massive refresh of Desktop Build, (sure i didn't get the chance to build it myself, but still think quality build anyhow)

Anyways The Actual purpose of this topic

Older Intel I7 10700 Desktop has been off since July 12th 2024, Eventually i wanna get that in a slightly smaller case, possibly without Window, and resume its daily use as Family Replacement Desktop for old AMD A6 3620 APU

Should i keep system off til i get the newer case?

Should i setup my portable table at times, place Tower on that, hook up Spare Keyboard/Mouse, and hook up to My Samsung Television, and clean off the Samsung 970 Evo Plus M.2, and perhaps get 24H2 installed on it, and have it fully ready for Family PC replacement?

Or should i get it to local PC shop and Trade it in for a Replacement Gaming Laptop, or newer AMD APU Based desktop for Family PC?

** I left the old PCie 3.0 M.2 in Older system as wasn't sure if was compatible with newer AMD based Desktop Motherboard, perhaps i should've moved it to NEW system and used it til i could afford a 4.0 Boot M.2 at 1TB size i think**

Doesn't matter significantly, in my opinion.
If you like.
Or should i get it to local PC shop and Trade it in for a Replacement Gaming Laptop, or newer AMD APU Based desktop for Family PC?
An I7-10700 is new enough to be fully compatible with Win11. If you're using its integrated graphics, the main reason I see for upgrading would be if that isn't good enough for your family's needs. Adding a discrete graphics card could fix that. The main downside to that is that graphics cards, purchased new, have gotten expensive. The most recent card I've purchased was a 6GB RTX 2060, about $200 on special.
** I left the old PCie 3.0 M.2 in Older system as wasn't sure if was compatible with newer AMD based Desktop Motherboard, perhaps i should've moved it to NEW system and used it til i could afford a 4.0 Boot M.2 at 1TB size i think**
I expect that a PCI-E 3.0 M.2 card would be fully compatible with a PCI-E 4.0 or 5.0 motherboard.

On the other hand, mainstream PCI-E 4.0 M.2 drives of 1TB capacity seem to start at around $50US. Is affording something like that an issue?

The Older Machine did have a Geforce 1660 Super, except with a few of my games it was causing not enough video memory errors, and couldn't afford just to replace the video card and Power supply to support the newer card (only had EVGA G3 650 Watt)

So made decision to grab a complete AMD build, with specs & case wanted for a long time--and see how i liked an ALL AMD build as might replace laptop with AMD advantage build eventually

Think will just instead purchase a Pcie 4.0 M.2 at 1TB asap in that case, the price isn't much of a challenge after all i realize now

((Old Case is Thermaltake V200 TG RGB)) wasn't the best for cooling, but the old system worked pretty well

Old PC Thermaltake V200 TG RGB though doesn't fit into Desk where 3rd PC is currently lol, so if i do keep using it, then will have to get it into a smaller case i think--a bit too tall, but i knew that from the start, as was nearly too tall with my open desk bottom shelf under keyboard tray

That is the style of Desk currently the AMD A6 3620 APU is in, Monitors been upgraded and Power strip was changed out long ago. ((this was before we resetup the new stuff the picture was taken.

A GTX 1660 Super is spec'd with 6GB of VRAM.

If that's insufficient for your gaming needs, and upgrade may be pretty expensive.

A 650W power supply isn't bad, unless it's a poor one.

I don't use PC furniture. Just desks.

Think the old hardware would be sufficient for needs for 3rd system.

was being pressured to spend some of my saved funds in the account back in July lol.

So made snap decision for AMD Based tower build then. Decision was like do i replace Desktop or Gaming Laptop lol, then i was like well guess Desktop, then Gaming Laptop later on, and 3rd PC at some point.

As for that PC furniture that was bought ages ago, never liked those desks myself lol
