OneDrive "Attachments" Folder keeps reappearing after deletion, why is it forced ?

OneDrive version: Build 24.146.0721.0003 (64-bit) keeps reinstating deleted folder "Attachments".
I keep on deleting in turn on each and every machine linked to the account, also through Webbrowser,
but the empty folder keeps coming back. Why is MS forcing this upon me?

The attachments folder is a default folder added to all OneDrive accounts, whether you actually use the MS account for your email or not. It's used for cloud attachments when you send mail.

When was this established? It is obviously some default "used for cloud attachments when I send mail" whatever that means, please elaborate, but it was never forced so far.

I'm looking at my windows 11 box, and with my OneDrive setup, build 24.11.0728.0003 (64-BIT), I do NOT see an Attachments folder in my OneDrive. Nor do I see it in my web browser when I log into OneDrive.

Because of the above, I did some research as to why it exists, and apparently if you have saved any attachments from Outlook or other email services to your onedrive account, that folder is automatically created. But I've also read that at one point on new accounts it got created, then for awhile it didn't, and now it's back to creating it again. So, it may just be one of those situations where some people might have it and other people might not and that's just that.

Perhaps you can "disable" seeing that folder in your list of folders on your computer. I cannot test this as I don't see it on my system, so not sure if it's a folder you can disable to show in your view. You will continue to see it if you are online and logged in, but that just may be the way the cookie crumbles.

I don't have an "attachments" folder in OneDrive and I've never seen an "attachments" folder in the 15 years I've used OneDrive.

For decades I've used Microsoft Outlook for email. I'm a longtime Microsoft 365 subscriber which includes the latest Microsoft Office and 1 Terabyte of cloud OneDrive.

I've never used Outlook.com. Could that possibly be what creates the "attachments" folder?
