Solved ONEDRIVE - can someone explain this to me please?

I use 1D. I have 1Tb through O365 and I use it for pictures and I don't want it syncing to my PC AT ALL. DO NOT WANT.
I just deleted 30+Gb of pictures and documents and though it was not that big of a deal, nothing super important (I will miss the memes) I have dealt with it.

How do I tell 1D to go away and to NEVER show it's ugly face again? I do not want c/onedrive/pics! I want c/user/pics! I know there are relatively simple ways to create directories but I really just want 1D gone for good. I was positive I wasn't using it and had maybe even uninstalled it when I nuked my pix/docs.

OneDrive can simply be uninstalled.

It's uninstalled but c/onedrive/docs is still there, and it can't be deleted.

Have you tried booting into Safe Mode and deleting that One Drive folder?

I only asked because I uninstalled OneDrive a couple of times (I think after an in-place upgrade, it came back), and now I have no OneDrive on C: or in PF, PF(86), PD or in any Users <Me> folders, and only the leftover traces in old SXS files. Since you're not now afraid of losing anything, I think you're perfectly safe deleting that folder and any others you find in the just-named ^^ folders.

You did not state what steps you did before you uninstalled onedrive. For things to go as they should, chances are you did not take all the pre-requisite steps before doing so.
This is the entire process as t should have been done. You can try the option 3 in the the tutorials listed under step 1 to see if it will straighten out your default folder location.

Step 1- You first have to turn off backup folder syncing. This tutorial tells you how and also how to get your files onto your local drive.

NOTE: ONLY IF FOLDERS DO NOT MOVE TO DEFAULT LOCATION IN THE ABOVE STEP DO THIS

If this happens, then you could try option three in below tutorials to restore the default folder location and move your files manually from Onedrive into the folders..

Step 2 Unlink account & PC from onedrive.

or use Revo Uninstaller to uninstall Onedrive

I prefer to disable Onedrive rather than uninstalling it. Open Task Manager>Startup Apps. Find Onedrive in the list and, right click on it, select disable. This prevents Onedrive from auto-starting.

I feel for you

. I know some people like 1D but I find it horrible. Sometimes if you uninstall it, it comes back if you install office and you have to uninstall it again. Make sure you’ve backed up all your files externally before uninstalling it.

Onedrive is fine if you use it as a website and upload when you want to.
Sync stuff I pass on that mess.

Well, love it or hate it, the op’s request was to remove it.
Having said that, if people need or want to encourage the OP to keep it, it’s an open forum, nothing wrong with that I suppose.

In my opinion, OneDrive, as awesome as it might be, is one of the most functionally misleading, revenue driven features of the entire Windows operating system..., or, of any software package, for that matter.

Yes this is what I use it for and it's great...I mainly use it for photos.

I don't think 1d is satan, I just don't want to use it or even learn anything about it. I deal with my files my own way. I'm glad you like it...I just recently had a rather horrible experience with C;1d/doc and C:1d/pics and it only happened because I didn't know those files were actually part of 1D.

OK . I give up. I didn't know this was such a hot topic. I've already installed it and just wanted to get rid of the C:1d/docs and pics folders. I have simply removed them from Quick Access and hopefully that will make me happy
