Unsure where to place this post. I am an insider and have just clicked on 'try the new Outlook for free'. I did not have Outlook program or any 365 program installed.
I have been using Gmail so saw that the Outlook offer could use its data. The installation went fine and I linked to Gmail and imported contacts etc. The Outlook screen was just the right size of test so I was happy.
However today on opening Outlook it took me to the full Outlook installation page asking me to pay or select the browser version. I chose the latter and what appeared was Outlook that did not have any populated emails or contacts.
The only reason I chose to see the new Outlook was because Microsoft has said that it is removing support for Gmail in 2024.
Seems a mess unless I have misunderstood things.

New Outlook works well for Outlook and Yahoo accounts but, for me, has issues with Gmail's IMAP. It downloads and populates folders correctly, but any actions I do in New Outlook to Gmail messages, move, delete, etc..., do not seem to get replicated back to the Gmail web account.

It's many years since I used Outlook extensively for business. Unfortunately I cannot remember why I jumped to Gmail, but it was some issue with Outlook that annoyed me.
