Hi foelks
unlik London 2012 and Rio 2016 where loads of separate streams for different sports were avilable on FTA channels most countries now only get 2 standard IOC streams - people have complained all over Europe over this -- not sure what's the case in 'OZ or the USA. Apparently the IOC (itself not a "poor" organisation) have flogged the other rights to Disney + for yet another wretched subscription - even though it's only around €6.50 per month.

Well that's the thin edge of the wedge --things like the Olympics which are of world wide interest and sport helps health all over the world should be continued to be available on FTA TV as it always was.

I'm sure --with due respect to Chinese etc that many would rather (at least in Europe) watch the road bike racing with medal contentions from Belgium, Netherlands and France rather than table tennis between say China and N.Korea -- rather than just get to see the last bit of the race !!

Perhaps (and I'm not by any manner of means socialistic) we need to draw back on the excesses of these companies that really try and squeeze every last cent out of people --why can't we enjoy the 2 weeks of sport like we have done for the last couple of Olympic games (Tokyo was an exception of course due to covid but still even on those games many live streams were available).

So please any of you with Disney + subscriptions -- cancel and say disgraceful in what they've done at these Games.

Eurosport still has a few streams but loads of ads and it's a little behind live timings - but at least it's better than nothing.

Cheers
jimbo

We’re getting it uninterrupted (except news) on a few free to air TV channels in HD. Channel 9/9HD/9Gem. Only interrupted on one of the channels I believe, by a weekend game of football.

Or we can get it totally uninterrupted & ad free on Stan Sport for $15 a month. $15 (unsubscribe afterwards) is a pretty good deal.
It would cost me around $10,000 for a return business class ticket to fly, and I can only be in one place at a time. Not including accommodation and meals. I’d guess around $25K plus all up. Maybe 30 to 50K upward (Paris is expensive and it’s the Olympics)

Olympics in Sydney, people were moving out of their houses to lease out for $10k or more (hundred thousand a week for high end
luxury apartments I heard). Same happened during the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth. The world is doomed.

$15 for 40 sports channels covering ‘everything’ is a little cheaper.

For the first time in Australian history, all 329 events at Paris 2024 will be streaming ad-free, live and on demand with the biggest moments in 4K.

Experience the Olympic Games your way with more than 40 individual sport channels, an exclusive 24/7 Olympic News channel and 4 live and exclusive feature channels crossing between the big moments.

All medal events and major moments from Paris 2024 will also be available to stream in stunning 4K Ultra HD

This will be complemented by a comprehensive on demand offering including full replays, highlights and exclusive minis on Stan Sport.

I have noticed a number of slightly annoying things about the filming (e.g. not showing the replay until after the winners have done a lap of honour - most notably in the BMX cycle races), but I suppose that's a director's choice. The HD feed with UK commentary is shown on BBC 1, and there are three Eurosport channels showing some of the alternatives, with one of them in UHD and HDR - which certainly makes a big difference. I haven't needed to pay any extra subscription, other than the rather large Virgin Media monthly one which I already pay for TV and broadband.

Dell says this system is not Windows 11 capable, but Microsoft seems happy with it.
