Solved PC doing some strange things!

Recently I've posted here about some issues regarding the Power options crashing Settings (still not resolved) and the lock screen not ever coming on.
Here's the latest - if I manually lock the screen, I'll see the lock screen picture, but then it will go to the Login screen (Enter PIN). It does this without touching anything. This could happen within a second, or take a minute or so.

Waking from sleep has the same problem - I just see the Enter PIN screen and not the lock screen
Changed USB port on the mouse - no change
Switched the mouse of before locking - no change
Switched off both the mouse and my Razer controller - no change.

Seems to have only started happening within the last few days - possibly since the 23H2 update. Of course, this means that the monitor will never go off (I have the lock screen set to 30 minute slideshow)

Stuck for suggestions!

If your mouse is wireless... you might want to try with a wired mouse and see if things are the same?

It's wireless but using the Logitech Powerplay charger. I also plugged the mouse directly into the USB port, same problem.
When playing FH5, the mouse cursor keeps appearing, and instead of the game showing controller buttons it shows keyboard shortcuts, often quickly switching between the two.

Gonna try safe mode now

One of the things that was supposed to come with 23H2 had to do with the login screen and logging in.
I just read about it... somewhere, last night or early this morning.

This isn't the exact article I read, but it has the same info...

Can you remember the details? It's strange that these problems started when 23H2 was installed

The other article I read, explained it a bit more completely.
I got the impression, that the login screen would sort of... log in for you or something?

My memory ???? what it used ?? be.

This is interesting. I disabled Logitech G Hub, rebooted, locked the screen - and it did the slideshow for 30 minutes then turned the display off, no going to the PIN login screen

I just looked up Logitech G Hub.

I have the feeling it's part or all of the problem. Is there maybe a recent update for G Hub?
Something to work alongside the recent Windows changes?

G Hub claims to do a LOT of things.
I believe it can do them. But I wonder how easy it is to whip out a G Hub update to keep up with MS's chaotic updates.
Is there a Logitech G Hub forum?

I've always used G Hub, it's interesting that it updated on Sept 22nd, the same day as the Release Preview 23H2 update.

That's kind of what I'm saying.
Maybe that update was for the Sep 12th WU.
It may have just been coincidence that it came out on the 22nd.

Well I left the PC on the desktop, I haven't checked yet but it looks like it's gone to the lock screen after 10 minutes like it should. I can always tell when the pc is locked as the Phone Link icon goes off on my Samsung. It's not showing now so pc must've locked itself.

Or crashed, which is unlikely

Ya got me stumped.
Most of this is way out of my experience.
I use a $9 Logitech mouse, which doesn't have any software. I don't use G Hub.
I'm on 22H2 Public Release, and my newest game is 2003.
Everything I have is wired. I do have a 2001 MS joystick (wired - USB), but it seems to work fine.

Mouse
Joystick

Maybe someone a bit more modern, has some suggestions.

Update: It hasn't worked, PC was showing the PIN login screen. But it did go to the lock screen by itself

I don't know how complicated it is, but maybe uninstall G Hub and see if things work better without it?
Maybe make a backup first, so if no improvement you can just restore?

While I was thinking, I just broke two hotlap records on 4x4 EVO 2

That's pretty much what I do when I have weird problems.

1. Make a fresh full backup.
2. Then call in Igor and start to experiment.
3. Then, no matter what I've done, if things don't improve, I restore from my backup, and try something else.

It does seem more of a software issue rather than hardware

Well today I had a problem, my monitor failed. (I posted another thread about that)

Since then I've not had this weird problem. It seems to me like the keyboard was constantly 'active', like a key being pressed or something. Like if I went to the Settings screen I'd see a highlighted box like I had tabbed through the options. Hard to explain!
This is why when I was playing Forza, the mouse cursor kept flickering on and off and I was getting keyboard options instead of controller options on the menu.

Of course, pressing any key on the lock screen causes the PIN login to appear. I did move the keyboard to a different USB port earlier.
At some point I'll be getting a new 4K monitor, or my other one will be fixed. If the weird problem starts again I'll investigate further.

Can confirm that Logitech G Hub wasn't the cause of the problem

If this is what you mean,

then you can turn it off in Accessibility -keyboard and under "On-screen keyboard, access keys. and print screen" turn off -Underline access keys.
Apologies if that's not what you meant.

Yes it is similar to my problem, I will check the settings but I don't think it's changed. Still doesn't explain why the PIN login screen appeared with no input,its like there are 'ghost' keypresses. I've not had the problem since I changed the monitor yesterday

EDIT: Until now, when the 'ghost' key presses have returned. This is what happens when I click Settings > Personalisation > Background
